Other than Singer directly saying who Jasons father is, it doesn't prove a damn thing, your right.
Hell, I'd believe a stranger who claims he's seen the movie before I'd believe what comes out of Singer's mouth regarding this subject.

Yeah, because those strangers know more about the production. Hey, I'll be right back, I'm going to ask that guy walking his dog outside about the current state of Indiana Jones 4...

You're not too familiar with Singer huh?

Oh, I am, but I dont remember him saying stuff like Keiser Soze isn't a cast member, and Jean is alive at X2's credits. He just didn't say anything.

She was alive in the novel. The Usual Suspects wasn't popular enough before it hit for people to have cared enough to ask. If they had he would have lied.

The kid is Superman's you numbskulls.

He's Lying [I read The book and it's clear as daylight The kid is Clark's Kid.] I'm betting singer is doing this to throw off some people .

Unless it comes right out and says it, it is NOT clear as daylight, especially with anything Singer is involved in.

It's not just with scripts and books he spins his magic. Gabriel Byrne was certain that he was Keyser Soze in The Usual Suspects, right up until he actually saw the first screening.

Well i just got back from The Da Vinci Code, and I had read the book already, but I did not think about this untill tonight . . .

Spoilers beware, for the Code, and possibly Returns ,. . ..

Just thought about how, if the kid is Superman's, it is kinda funny how it draws parrallels to the Code. Especially with all the complaints about it changing his character and all.

That's actually what made me think about it, how they mentioned the big movement to supress the whol Jesus having a kid thing, and especially how it would change things, and how it is also something so hard for many to accept because they think it changes who Jesus was, rather then realising they are just being uptight dumbass' and it changes nothing of what he supposedly did and what he ment and blah blah blah.

Any who, I just thought it was kinda funny, the parallels and all the huff about Superman having a child, and the whole Jesus/meiah comparisons.

End spoilers

It really doesn't matter to me if the kid is Superman's or not. He's been RAISED as someone else's. He's GROWN UP believing he's someone else's. And Singer's right, he's an obstacle Superman CAN'T overcome. Classic.

I love it. This may be a touch soap-opera, but it makes for GREAT conflict, regardless of who fathered him.

When I asked someone in the know about SUPERMAN RETURNS about a year ago, they told me "The end is going to be very controversial". They also told me WB went at it with Singer, and it became a sticking point. The Kid playing this type of a role, and Superman not ending up with Lois fits the bill.

Classic.

I cant find any mention of him being Jason Lane, only Jason White. Have you read the book?

It's on the cards from the movie, you have to decode the Kryptonian symbols though.

On another note I just got back from The Da Vinci Code, and I had read the book already, but I did not think about this untill tonight . . .

So stupid of a storyline, ecspecially if they want to do sequels. If this was a stand alone film, and it might be, I could understand, but if they want a franchise, then dumb move!!!!

Since Superman erased Lois's memory after they made love in Superman 2 wouldn't that legally make Superman a rapist? Superman will always remember that they made love, but with his memory erasing power Lois wouldn't remember anything about their time in the sack, so just imagine how she would have felt to learn that she was pregnant & not remember how she got pregnant.

Clark/Superman could never come forth & lay claim to the child being his without encountering persecution because it would ruin his whole good guy image. An alien who is able to sleep with women & erase their memories like a date rape drug would be a very negative angle for the movies. Since this movie isn't linked to any of the events in Superman 2, I've come to accept the fact that the kid might not be Superman's.

I don't know how many times this has to be said....but here we go again;

If he didn't know she had a kid....he's not a deadbeat dad......and if you want to complain about her having a kid and not being married....be prepared to take on millions of unwed mothers.

And I don't know how many times I have to say it. Most civilized governments disagree with you. Even if the father of a child didn't know the child was born, he is still responsible for the child. If you have sex with a woman and fail to recognize or prepare for the possible outcomes of such an act, you are irresponsible and culpable.

Is this so damn hard for people to understand? It's like saying Darryl Strawberry isn't responsible for the myriad children he's produced just because he didn't know he got the women pregnant. It's irresponsibility. Plain and simple.

superman is a rapist. i wish i could have my way with women and then make them forget everything.

Even if that's true, isn't it even more irresponsible to suddenly turn the kid's life upside down by telling him that his daddy isn't his real daddy and that his real daddy is an alien? Okay, let's all agree that Superman made a mistake and was irresponsible at one point in his life. Doesn't make him a bad person.

not exactly. he did have her consent when they engaged in.. *ahem* and if she later forgot about it, it still doesnt amount to rape. so, sorry chi... no claim for rape.

Nothing will be crystal clear until the movie comes out. Let's just wait and see what happens.

Doesn't make him a Super Man either.

The whole situation is irresponsible, if the child is Superman's.

I'd rather be disappointed now, and be pleasantly surprised by the good things about Superman Returns on June 30.

Call me a cynic.
