Universal is Assembling The Knights Templar
Source: Variety

Universal Pictures is developing The Knights Templar, picking up a spec script from Adam Torchia and Justin Stanley for Marc Platt and Wanted director Timur Bekmambetov to produce.

Variety says the film puts a horror spin on the famed organization of fighters from the Middle Ages, with the Knights Templar, fresh from the Crusades, forced to fend off an invading vampire army set on destroying the Holy Grail.

Platt will produce "Knights Templar" through his Marc Platt Productions, while Bekmambetov will shepherd the project through his Bazelevs Productions, with Jim Lemley.

Man this will be neat if done very very very very correctly.

Think Alucard in the Middle Ages.

I think... :whatever:

It's an interesting concept. Can anyone see this becoming a film and reaching theaters?

I hope it will be a mix of epic historical adventure blockbuster, fantasy and horror

This would be more interesting without the vampires. The grail itself is fantastical enough.

This could be big if it gets some heavy hitters involved, the premise is awesome IMO.

if they dont go for cheap and schlocky with the vampires this could turn out to be a good movie.

so it's like The Blind Dead vs Vampires...only the knights templar aren't dead or missing their eyeballs?

If this isn't filled with all sorts of swords and sorcery, i'll be disapointed. And if it has long-haired dopey vampire kings in it, i'll be pissed.

Sounds cool though. I'll see it, as long as it's atleast rated R. There has to be a good R rated horror film soon.

What is with all these Vampire movies coming out these days. Is this the Next Phase?

I just want to see a Vampire sword fight that Rivals the Sword fight from Blade 1.

I like the sound of this. But they need to nail The Templars and the vampires for it to work, I think.

Nah, than it would be just another boring epic film like Kingdom of Heaven.

I think mixing genres will only make the film unique. All I want is it to be as realistic as it's possible. I mean I just got sick of these crappy vampires made from CGI only (I am Legend is the best example) and looking more like dumb zombies. But I also no way want them to be similar to those from Blade. I think they should change the general view at vampires and make them original again.

I'm certainly interested in the premise, but I would have to see a picture or two.

Okay, I see where you're coming from now.
When I see the words like "holy grail" "knights templar" and "vampires," I think of a light going off over Uwe Boll's head. But what you're suggesting could work.

AGREED!! 100%
Vampires should be made to be FEARED...not sexualized and modernized. I want to be afraid of them.
