The Knights Templar

Okay, I see where you're coming from now.
When I see the words like "holy grail" "knights templar" and "vampires," I think of a light going off over Uwe Boll's head. But what you're suggesting could work.

Thanx, I think it will be at least better than I Am Legend, which had a very intersting concept, but never came close to what it should have been.

AGREED!! 100%
Vampires should be made to be FEARED...not sexualized and modernized. I want to be afraid of them.

What I wouldn't like to get are three varients:

A) Dumb vampires acting more like zombies than actual vampires

B) More human-like version, which was introduced in Blade. Dracula and Underworld

C) More like monsters than vampires resembling some beasts

As a viewer and a person, who helps these studios making money, I will lose my interest, if they use any of these three versions, which have already been oversused and are no more original.

Meh. Ever since that ****ing Dan Brown hack wrote his crappy book everyone thinks Templars are these heroic, noble jedi-like warriors. Not that KOH was anymore accurate than the general myth, but at least it was more in the right direction of depicting them.

Anyway, a crusades movie about fighting vampires instead of the Crusades? No thanks. :o

Nah, than it would be just another boring epic film like Kingdom of Heaven.

I think mixing genres will only make the film unique. All I want is it to be as realistic as it's possible. I mean I just got sick of these crappy vampires made from CGI only (I am Legend is the best example) and looking more like dumb zombies. But I also no way want them to be similar to those from Blade. I think they should change the general view at vampires and make them original again.

Technically there were no vampires in I Am Legend

In the movie, they were simply the infected. They weren't vampires.

The Templar legend is fascinating enough without vampires being thrown into the mix. Maybe they are trying to capitalise of the sucess of both the Da Vinci Code and The Historian.

OT, but man when are they going to make the Historian into a film? That was a fantastic book, way better then Da Vinci IMO.

What I don't like about epic historical movies is that they really suck. I mean, yes, Gladiator was a masterpiece, but then there were Troy, King Arthur and finally Alexander, which killed genre again like what happened in 1960s. So I am bored with the genre usual formula of telling a story of great people, who were rulling the whole world and stuff like that. I think mixing epic and fantasy opens a door to unlimited opportunities.

^True enough. However mixing fantasy and history can also come up with bombs like Van Helsing and the Brothers Grimm. It really depends on the skill of those involved.
