So we've officially got the teenage version of Lana cast for the Smallville flashback scenes:

Who should play the adult version? Should she appear in the sequels?

Should she know Superman's identity?

Discuss!

Isn't knowing Superman's identity the whole point of the character?

Just as long as she is nothing like the Smallville incarnation.

I'm rather surprised that there hasn't been an uproar over her hair color. I guess we're waiting until we see a set photo.

They're probably intentionally making Lana a brunette in this version, since Lois is a redhead.

Probably keeping their options open in case they want to use the Lana character in future films.

I hope MEW gets cast as Mary-Jane one day.

MEW is definitely not a bad choice for Lana, as for Mary Jane well that's another story for another thread.

I honestly don’t see Lana’s character having a MAJOR role in this film. It has nothing to do with the way that I feel about the character, but I really think that her role in the film will be similar to what we saw of her in the animated film; Superman: The Last Son of Krypton, where we just get a scene featuring her and Clark during their youth before Clark runs off to do something super or something of that effect.

wait, is that a younger version of Lois Lane

WHY DOES LANA HAVE BROWN HAIR AND LOIS DOESN'T?????

i knew about this casting like a week ago

Not exactly. The concept of Clark telling her about his powers didn't come around until the Man of Steel miniseries.

ummmmm, yeah sure....

lol..I think what the poster supposedly meant was in terms of characterization of SV's take on Lana and not so much on appearance itself.

Usually when someone has been cast as a "Young" character, that character has an older version in the movie as well.

Plus the article itself says it's a flashback...

Because Clark and Lana are supposed to be approximately the same age?

The point I'm trying to make is people assume it will be a flashback to the growing up...why wouldn't the movie be along the lines of Superman: The Movie and actually show them growing up instead of doing flashbacks like in Superman Returns?

Ahh, okay. Or like the TAS series opener. Now I see what you mean. I would greatly prefer that to flashbacks.

I'm glad that Lana will have some role in MOS, even if it's just a small role in a flashback.

with that being said, I can definitely see an adult Lana playing a bigger role in the sequel(s).

I wouldn't be surprised if they did use flashbacks (ala Begins).
