Great news. I can't wait!

Wow... a cartoon film of Avatar? Sounds good to me...

lol. They wanted to stay as far away from the movie as possible.. :p

wow! the creators' comments ( or lack thereof ) re the movie is quite telling!

usually, there would be at least lukewarm praise, even if it's just "towing the party line."

But they basically deflected the question by turning back to their focus on Legend of Korra ( which I'm super-excited for....btw ).

So where is everyone who try to say the creators had all this involvement with the film? :D

lol. They wanted to stay as far away from the movie as possible.. :p

"We had nothing to do with this!" :woot:

So much for the planned trilogy... I doubt Nickelodeon will let another live action movie happen

Did he really say that? Did he really say the humor messed with the tone of the film? And that all that the cut was "emotional distraction"? This guy's a f**king idiot.

Btw, the creators hint that they weren't involved, yet MNS says he met with them. What the hell actually went on?

Yeah, humor is way to distracting for a movie to have. I don't know what we were thinking wanting that in the film.

I mean, the movie wasn't totally devoid of humor, but in terms of tone, it was just too serious. It really never tried or allowed itself to open up.

i cant understand why couldnt they just hire one of the directors from the tv show, its not like the tv show is 40 years old and the makers are dead or anything

the tone was fine we just needed some friendships bonded and characters developed

it deals with serious themes it needs to be serious no one wants it to be a comedy

this is not a 20 episode series where you can spread out the comedy this is 90 minute film

say if aang was all happy go lucky after his people died it would come off as if he did'nt care due to the films small time frame

some characters like soka should of been more light hearted aang could of been a little more like he was at SAT

Star Wars isn't a comedy and avoids feeling like a gloomy film about genocide, even with the obvious parallels to Nazi Germany.

Serious themes are discussed in family films all the time, but with a far more delicate touch that allows for the themes to be understood and drive the film, without hammering them home to the point that it cast a cloud of gloom, or even worse boredom, over the material.

Just look at Toy Story 3, or Nolan's Batman films, WALL-E, etc.

i will say it again this film is short as hell they cant focus on the comedy too much or it will detract from the storyline

90 minute movie with like 6 main characters

It is a 90 minute film because M Night made a 90 minute film. Not to mention that by cutting out all of the character moments, as bad as they may have been, he somehow made a film devoid of characters that turns into 90 minutes of strangers talking about plot that never actually happens. How is that in anyway defensible?

Don't remember Star Wars being that...

^I knew the movie might be in trouble when I initially heard about the short runtime. This was a 150 million production and the director wanted to cut the movie to just 90 minutes. On top of that the marketing was 130 million. That’s way too much money invested for only 90 minutes of live action.

For those who have seen the movie... because I havent... how are the action scenes?
