Most are laughable. The bending is so slow and looks more like dancing then anything else, it looks silly. The hand to hand stuff is pretty funny as well as Aang doesn't look capable of hurting anyone.

So where is everyone who try to say the creators had all this involvement with the film? :D

Sounds like they were involved heavily early on and then once they saw what was going down, they probably decided to back out and let him carry on his merry way.

How long are all the action scenes put together? Is it a lot.. or a few.

^I knew the movie might be in trouble when I initially heard about the short runtime. This was a 150 million production and the director wanted to cut the movie to just 90 minutes. On top of that the marketing was 130 million. That’s way too much money invested for only 90 minutes of live action.

The 130 million marketing figure might be bogus. The only source for that figure was one article, and they provided no source for it. The marketing cost might be included the 150 million figure, since according to Frank Marshall the end cost of the film was about 95 million.

I saw the movie today and almost walked out it was so horrible!!!:cmad:

I have hated M. Night for awhile now, and was worried about what he'd do to this movie, and it was worse than what I was afraid of.

The casting was all wrong. The kids could not act, meaning Katara and Aang. Just horrible.

The characters were not the beloved characters I know.

How hard is it to call Gran Gran, Gran Gran? Instead just Grandma. And the white actors among the Native American/Eskimo type Water Tribe looked so stupid.

The Fire Nation really should have been played by Japanese or Oriental actors. I hope I said that the right way, I'm not sure how else to put it.

The movie was a horrible mess. They could've done better. They should have had a different director.

The cartoon is so good and such a high quality show, and loved by many, and it deserved better than this. They should have just left it alone. The live action film is an insult to the outstanding animated series.

The Harry Potter movies had great child actors, and even if they weren't great early on, they were still good, and not as horrible and stiff and pathetic as the kids in the last airbender.

I didn't see Avatar at all, all I saw was M. Night doing his own stupid thing, and they should really stop him from making any more movies. Or at least just keep him away from good projects like this.

They cut out too much, and nothing happened. Seriously, in Harry Potter they have to cut some stuff but still keep alot of the good stuff, as much as possible and they keep the main spirit of it all, but Avatar had nothing.

The heart was cut out along with everything else.

I hate you M. Night Shyamalan!
You're a hack!!! No talent moron!!!

I really love the cartoon and this movie ticked me off.
They won't make the sequels, it'll end up like those other sucky adaptations that won't get their sequals, like Eragon, and so on.

I always thought Avatar was right up there with Harry Potter, it was just a cartoon instead of a book, although the seasons were called Books, as you fans know. And I know I mentioned Potter alot but, it's 'cause it's the only other kids' series I could think of that was so cool and well done.

Avatar was like the Kung-Fu HP. The cartoon series was so well done. That movie does not exist to me. It went against all of the good they put into that series.

They tried to keep Appa from being just a vehicle, so what do they do in the movie, just tuned him into a vehicle.

I can't even talk about it any more. To me the live action movie doesn't exist.

The animated series is all there is.

It really makes me question this compulsion to turn everything to live action. Is there really anything that live actors playing out an already great series could possibly have added to it?

Well... sometimes we want to "live the movie" as some people say.... so for that, you will need live action. And live action provides good acting from the actors, beautiful sets and locations you cant get from animation

I doubt that figure is bogus, but you have to remember that figure is for marketing worldwide. Most big movies have at least 100 million in marketing worldwide, so 130 million doesn't seem that odd. The problem is that these figures hardly are made known to the public, usually it's just the production budget that everyone talks about. But either way, with licensing and all, I think Paramount pretty much got that money back.

For those who have seen the movie... because I havent... how are the action scenes?
The action scenes are like, the best part of the movie, but they fail to even come close to some of the better action sequences from the show.

Let's see here...
Were the original creators involved?
Shyamalan: “Oh yah, the whole time. I would show them each track and they were in on storyboarding — they were involved pretty early. As we started to make the film I just went and did my job. In the earlier part they were there a lot, they came to Philly a lot. When we finished the screenplay, they gave it their double-thumbs up.”
and they say...
What did you guys think of the live-action version of “The Last Airbender”?

Konietzko: We’re just really focused on this new show right now, and kind of taking this off in its own direction and not concerning ourselves with that right now.

So you didn’t follow the casting controversy about the movie version of “The Last Airbender”?

Konietzko: We didn’t head up that film. We’re just happy to be back generating the original content in this mythology, which is what we do.
some inconsistencies here!!! :awesome:

It was kinda like he was avoiding the questions directly...He wasn't flat-out denying involvement.

I still don't know how any studio can see the final cut of this film and be ok with releasing it

You know, the new series is gonna make me very sad. Aang's is dead and all the other characters are old. I'm still excited for it but I just wish that they could have done one more series with the gang as adults before aging them so radically as with Legend of Korra.

I'm split on that. I'd love to see them as adults...but I also want to see more of the world than just a small band of heroes. It's such a rich world they've created...it'd be shame to only center on the same group again.

??? What ???? Is this a new cartoon or the sequel to the movie.:huh:

Well i want to see the legend of korra. And why is ang's son a bad guy. The announcement said somthing about korra being tortured by angs son.

wonder who they got as new characters, places, things....and voice actors! and will we see a master airbender teaching master moves to Korra!? and what is her spirit animal/guide sorta thing? we know Aang is the first avatar she has or will need advice from. I'll bet there will be only a few cameos of the old GAang, but they'll be so old, but maybe their kids will be in their 30's and 50's.

maybe we should make a new thread based on the spinoff, separate the now from the will be.

 lol, I think you misread that. The article said "tutelage". He'll be teaching Korra. I wonder if it's revealed that Tenzin is in fact Katara's son that perhaps he also possesses water bending powers as well. He'd be like Avatar-Lite.:awesome:
