there was an interview from the creators about the new show a couple days ago and they said tenzin is aang and kataras son.

 lol, I think you misread that. The article said "tutelage". He'll be teaching Korra. I wonder if it's revealed that Tenzin is in fact Katara's son that perhaps he also possesses water bending powers as well. He'd be like Avatar-Lite.:awesome:

Pretty sure that being born of parents from two nations =/= being able to bend more than one element, and it's not even like such offspring would be rare. I'm sure that during the 100 year occupation of the Earth Kingdom there were more than a few Fire Nation soldiers who fancied themselves some Earth Kingdom tail, and as far as we know there's no one out there who can bend both earth and fire (except the Avatar, of course).

I wouldn't be so sure. There's probably a reason that all 4 tribes were segregated to extreme that they were. (Perhaps to prevent such and offspring). They never showed any integration between any 1 nation.

As far bending, It seemed to be a genetic trait inherited by the parents. All of Sozin's offspring was able to bend fire. It's not a stretch for the son of one of the most powerful water benders to be able to bend water as well.

Yeah, Shyamalan needs to be crucified for this attrocity. This movie pissed me off more than G.I Joe: The "Rise" Of Cobra, and that's SAYING something...:cmad:

But the guy that was sitting with him was a little idiot, he is the one who should kill himself, his work is degradating with time.

Wasn't that Jackson Rathbone (Sokka)?

How is he an idiot? I mean, I'd agree with my boss if he was sitting right next to me too.. :p

and for the record, I didn't hate The Village or Lady in the Water like so many others did...I did think The Happening was trash, though..

Jackson Rathbone is really good actually. He was great in Dread. And I do believe with an actual good script and better director he would have been the perfect Sokka.

I mean, it's weird...Wahlberg is an awesome actor, but for some reason, in The Happening, he was so bad, I almost convinced myself that it was deliberate on the part of Shyamalan...

Maybe he just doesn't know how to get the most out of his talent..

Wahlberg is hit and miss, sometimes he's great and sometimes he's not...he just needs the right director to pull the performance out of him. Shyamalan couldn't pull a good performance out of him, I think he's lost his touch with his actor's.

The movie isn't a bomb but it's hardly a blockbuster because it's not going to make it's 140mil budget back domestically. Again it did a hell of alot better than alot of people thought it would (and there is way more money to come overseas) but it's hardly some overwhelming hit. Especially when you consider that it's only a little over 100mil without the 3D ticket prices. I don't see the studio making a sequel because it's obvously not well liked by anyone and it isn't an overwhelming success.

Neither was G.I. Joe and that is getting a sequel. Personally, I think Paramount should move ahead with a sequel but get rid of Shyamalan and get someone who can make a sequel that is more like the show.

But the hate for GI Joe, or Wolverine as another example, aren't nearly as bad as the hate for TLA

True, but like I said, if they get rid of Shyamalan, and try to make a quality sequel, then the next one could do better.

I hope they skip a live action sequel and go for CGI animated version. Perhaps following what happens after the cartoon.

They can get all the voice talents back and make it look more like the show... but as a Pixarish like extravaganza :woot:
