I'm prepared to never see this first movie, or its sequels, but rather get more and more excited for the spinoff series. I know they can deliver.
I don't know if you would call that criticism, but I think he defended himself pretty well.
London, August 03 – Dev Patel has admitted that he had his concerns about starring in action fantasy film ‘The Last Airbender’.
The Sixth Sense director M Night Shyamalan has a taken Dev in his latest movie after seeing him in the Oscar-winning Slumdog Millionaire – but the 20-year-old British actor revealed to the Radio Times he had his doubts after reading the script.
“I read the entire script and I had my concerns – I was like [wince] I”m not too sure if I really wanna be doing this. I wasn”t blown away,” the Mirror quoted him as saying.
But then he spoke to Shyamalan on the phone and was impressed by “his vision”.
Now Dev insists the negative criticism of the film is inspiring to him.
“Actually the negative criticism really drives me in a way [he points out he didn''t get good reviews for his role in Skins]. And if I had got amazing reviews for Skins, I don”t know if I would have worked as hard on Slumdog, to get the awards I did. But then there was too much praise after Slumdog. So to come off Airbender and for the film to be critically smashed like it is now, is great,” he added. (ANI)
He doesnt understand that his movies blow. As someone who wants to be in the directing biz, sometimes people dont like your movie. YOU love it...but everyone else hates it. You ask why, and you improve on that. If you think all your movies are perfect, no matter what anyone says (your customers) then you're a *****e.
Because like M. Night now, no one sees his movies any more. Everyone knows what to expect. He needs to wake up, and stop acting like he's some important filmmaker. It's very arrogant.
Bay is making movies for money. M Night is not.If Michael Bay, who many fanboys accused of having a big ego, was able to apologize for Transformers 2, I don't see why M. Night should think that not apologizing for what's wrong with TLA is going to help his career. I understand that the movie hasn't opened in a lot of regions yet and that he needs to save face, but still, all he has to do is admit that he made a lot of mistakes with the movie and promise to try a lot harder next time. Maybe throw in the anouncement of a re-cut version of TLA on home video. It will take a lot more than that to totally win back the trust of the fans, obviously, but it would at least repair his reputation as being a stubborn, ego-driven *****e.
^8% RT rating is what i call smashed critically
That means Bay has even less reason to apologize when he screws up, and M. Night has even less excuse for digging in his heels and saying "there's nothing wrong with my movies!" when they get panned. When you make a movie that earns a billion dollars it's a lot easier to just say "Bah! What do the critics know?" When your movie under performs in addition to being ravaged by both the critics and fans, however, it's a lot harder to make the case that you're right and everyone else is wrong.Bay is making movies for money. I think that's the problem: M. Night lives in a bubble created by his ego but I also think its a self defense mechanism. If he knew the truth he would break down.
my greatest fears with this movie came true. that is all.
i was for this movie for along time and even did'nt mind cast chocies if the acting was stellar lol
but if the cast dont look like coutner part and aren't even that good thats when i get pissed
i want a reboot and here is what the cast could of looked like

It's unfortunate that a proper adaptation would have to take so long to get here. I wouldn't mind it if Peter Jackson took over the project and did his version, which would really be the true to the source material version, thereby slapping Shyamalan in the face when it succeeds. If the cartoon series continues to be popular, Paramount will reboot this in 10 years. By then audiences will have forgotten this movie even existed.
Love your casting choice for Azula, Parker Wayne. Really getting an Azula vibe off of her.
Got any more ideas for the rest of the cast?
