I'm sure some people genuinely like it better, but the new movie smell makes a difference. I was conflicted for a while whether I liked this or X3 better because Wolverine was fresher in my mind.

For all of X3's faults (wasted character development, no Rogue, shunting Xavier, ignored plotlines), it had a sense of scale and "holy crap, this really is the end" finality that made it better than many of its detractors claimed. Hell, in the climactic scene where Logan climbs up towards Jean and gets his skin practically ripped off, it was brilliant.

Like Roger Ebert said, Logan (in this film) is basically a walking plot device that initiates fights wherever he goes. All this talking about the adamantium bullet debacle could have been solved if Logan had lost his memory during the adamantium surgery scene, and had the rest of the movie carry on the same way (without Sabretooth).

Over all I would definitely say the real answer is the work print of Wolverine. The movie was all over the place! the pre-effects were so funny and awesome i literally rewinded the movie back to watch T-1000 airplane scene three times because it was just so ridiculous looking. I had more fun watching that version then the abomination that was X3 or the theatrical Wolverine. The nod to war movies like PREDATOR when they're on the helicopter was bad ass.

I'm still trying to figure out if Keemy from LOST played the Blob or the dude who died in the helicopter? Were the old people that James hangs with (whose son's name is Logan) supposed to be significant or were they just some random people? Were they stand ins for that Alpha Flight couple as to not bring in more confusing characters from a B grade Canadian mutant team? Cyclops being in this movie was horrible and added that lame laser eye bull **** to Dead "darth maul" Pool.

Either way, all of the characters in this movie were wasted too soon. Dominic barely had any lines at all and Ryan Reynolds looked bored and maybe a little embarrassed. They still had no problem blowing away the XMEN 3 newcomers (aside from Dr Frasier Crane) who were all complete and utter ****.

I'd say there was enough interesting plot (although blasphemous to the original character/origin) and fun (albeit a little too ridiculous) in Wolverine and Hugh Jackman is the master of almost making bad movies bad ass.

Sure there are plenty of things that sucked in both of these but Wolverine just had more heart put into it surprisingly.

also i wonder if they could bring deadpool back? he can regenerate new parts or at least reconnect in the comic right? or maybe they take his body and try to put him back together with the remaining dna but his body sort of rejects it and you have the oatmeal looking deadpool from the comic? they could take the stitches out of his mouth and put him in a red suit. he seemed like the most interesting character in the movie other than wolverine.

im just not so sure theyre going to give up on that character just yet when they know how much fans really love and respect the comic.

Well lets see, no vitally important characters were killed. Though it was a movie about Wolverine it didnt make him out like a screen hog. There were actually cool fight sequences rather than a five minute shot of something being destroyed and labeled and action sequence. I liked the score a bit better, and there was far better acting.

Continuity flaws yes, but none that **** up the future like X3. CGI was a bit meh,but believable. Had a bit of a lighter tone, but still stuck to the nature of Wolverine, and it was actually kind of funny in the right moments.

Yeah im with Wolvy on this one ;)

i absolutely agree! Wolverine is miles and miles ahead of X3 IMO. i wasnt expecting anything going into it and was pleasantly suprised at how much i enjoyed it! X3 on the other hand, hurt to watch.

XO: Wolverine was better than X3. I would give Wolverine an 8/10 and X3 a 7/10.

I thought with Wolverine ,while flawed as hell, at least there was some fun to be had while X3 i was too distracted by my heart being broken over and over.

Wolverine was better; simply because of the opening war montage/credit sequence - at the beginning. That alone was worth the price of admission.

I hated the action in X3, IMO it was boring as hell. This is coming from a guy who likes the action in the Nolan Batman movies.

While X-Men, X2, and X-Men: Wolverine, made some changes from the comics, they were all at least respectful to the characters.

X3 was just a steaming pile of dung, and an insult to the fans.

Wolverine. X3 was a huge mess. I don't see how anyone could think it's better over this really. Brett Ratner totally disrespected X-Men fans by taking a huge dump on what was established in the first two movies.

I can agree on X1 and X2, but not Wolverine. I didn't see much respect at all.

Yeah, how was Barakapool respectful to the character?

It was actually very respectful, especially now with the end scene. Nothing is quite explained yet... the cancer wasnt dismissed.. it was just never brought up. Everything else was kickass in a movie verse kind of way...

The blind faith some people have just astounds me.

I disagree.

I'm not the biggest Deadpool fan but I realize his importance to people. This is not a 'respectful' interpretation of the character. It's like saying that Arnold's Mr. Freeze was true to the cartoon version.

I'm glad that most people are in the agreement that X3 was a disappointment, even to the people who enjoyed it.

There's no need for that. People can like either movie if they want to.

Fine, it's not that I was calling people names or anything. I just simply can't understand where their heads are at is all.

i'm with kendrell. I really don't understand their line of thinking but all well. If they like that interperation of the character that's fine with me. But I can't see how a Deadpool fan can say "I don't mind". Especailly since there is NO gurrentee that Deadpool spinoff is going to happen, and they may have to live with this film version of the character.

Then just deal with the fact that you disagree and refrain from the insulting comments.

No option for "They equally ruled?"

I'm one of those people that actually liked X3. I seriously find nothing wrong with it.

Wolverine had it's problems like with the CGI and some plot issues that I still don't get but I still thought it was enjoyable.

(/start flamewar)

Besides Wade Wilson, most of the characters were true to the comics. Gambit, Blob (besides him not always being fat), Wraith, Sabretooth (Not being a Bigfoot wannabe FTW). Hell, this was the first time Blob had his Texan accent (he doesn't have it in the cartoons or games).
