An entire thread devoted to LETHAL WEAPON (1987), LETHAL WEAPON 2 (1989), LETHAL WEAPON 3 (1992), LETHAL WEAPON 4 (1998) and the long rumored LETHAL WEAPON 5 (TBA)...

Thoughts, opinions, reviews, pics from the first 4 films and rumors/news on the 5th installment.

I'd like to see a fifth installment some day. But that's me being selfish. :oldrazz:

i've heard rumors, but mel gibson says no... but at the same time if the $ is right who knows. glover has said he'd do another i believe.

I love the LWs. All 4 of 'em. I certainly wouldn't mind a 5th but if one never happens, I'm ok with that.

There won't be a 5. Gibson would never do it now.

If memory serves me correctly, there was a script outline a while back in which Riggs was killed and Murtaugh had to avenge his death.

I heard about that. It'd destroy the franchise, though, and a Lethal Weapon film without Gibson isn't a Lethal Weapon film.

That movie is ****ing awesome

Love these films. I always though Gibson and Glover were a great duo.

I still don't own the 4th film even though I liked it.

I'd never heard about this. Interesting to say the least.

He didn't even want to do a fourth, right?

No-one did. Warner Bros. were supposed to be making Superman Lives! but when it was delayed they needed a tentpole blockbuster asap. Lethal Weapon 4 was made at the drop of a hat, and only because Warner Bros threw money at the cast to do it.

Shane Black's original LW2 script had Riggs killed.

Really? What a mistake that would have been, eh?

Nonetheless, I loved the fourth film.

The film is exactly the same lest the last five minutes, when Riggs gets shot. He would have died...

LW3 and 4 were kinda ****ty so I don't think it would have been that big of a mistake.

The first Lethal Weapon is my favorite action movie. Sorry Die Hard fans. I love the story, characters, action scenes, music, and the darkness of it all. The Riggs "suicide" scene is hard to beat.

Lethal Weapon 2 is a perfect sequel. It perfectly advances the story, introduces new characters (although Leo Getz was useless in a way), and the whole revenge aspect COULD have been cliche' but Richard Donner makes it work.

Lethal Weapon 3 and 4 were light-hearted installments, but I think they worked as FUN action movies.

at the same time if the $ is right who knows.

The man made $100 million from Passion. WB can't beat that.

Yea. The movie began production in January `98 and was released 7 months later. That's crazy, man. Although I think that Richard Donner's 20 years of television experience helped him pull it off. Either way the movie turned out fun.

I'm curious. Does WB ever plan on releasing this franchise on SE DVD? I'm shocked they haven't. It was, after all, like their second biggest franchise back in the late `80s and early `90s.

I'm surprised at this as well.

WB confuses me sometimes. The series is still popular and its always on TV. They could make some money from SE DVD.

Yeah. I watch the second and fourth film (which was on this morning, believe it or not) all the time. I'd buy the DVD.

believe it or not

I believe you. TBS, TNT, HBO, and Cinemax air LW, LW 2, and LW 4 every other week. Although I still don't understand the lack of Lethal Weapon 3. It barely airs for some reason.

I agree. They air one, two and four. Do we not need three? Depriving us of our trilogy! :csad:
