Isn't Nader going to be the Nader too?

Too many f'n Naders!

No. Nader has run too many times to be a Nader anymore. No one pays attention to him anymore. He's been replaced by new Naders.

I would hope Paul would have learned that Nader just Naders the Election, and if Paul becomes Nader, he just Nadered himself. But, if he's the Nader the Naderites vote for, he'll probably Nader the country. :whatever: Stupid Naders.

Well, this election will have Ralph Nader, Bob Nader and now, most likely, Ron Nader. It's the Nader Three-way with McCain in the middle! Try getting that image out of your head for the rest of the day. :hehe:

I miss the days with Perot jumping in and out of the election. SNL was absolutely hilarious in those days. Dana Carvey had me in stitches with his Perot impression.

The good ole days...

While I don't think for a second that Pual could have the support and impact of Perot, I think you underestimate the impact this could possibly have on the election.
Exactly

Ron Paul: "I'm here to announce, that once again, I will be wasting everyone's time when it is clear that I have no conceivable shot at the Presidency!"
It about the message and he's sending it to the Republican Establishment...."Honor the U.S. Constitution" while reminding the Conservative Base, to grow some, and demand accountability to those in Congress.

Yes, a message which no one wants to hear and have made clear they don't want to hear.

He has a nice size following.... don't discount that. Besides, the media are the ones refusing to give him a say to a much larger audience of citizens that need to hear.

Reasons why his movement is largely web-based.

I have this feeling Ron Paul is becoming this generation's Lyndon LaRouche.

"So then me and Lady Nader went out to the car, see started Nadering me"
"Get the Nader out"
"Yeah man, we Nadered all night"
"Oh man, that is so Nader...just so Nader".

No, the reason is because a lot of stupid people are on the internet, just like in the real world.

Ron Paul would never enjoy mainstream success (and the media did give him the platform to achieve it during this primary). The reason why isn't because there is some evil conspiracy to him down...it is because every time he says anything half intelligent, he follows it up by saying something completely absurd like "The Civil War shouldn't have been fought."

I think we've talked about this. He tends not to present solutions, just airs grievances. Ron Paul will say something like "we should've never been in Iraq in the first place, it's unconstitutional". Okay, great, Ron, but we are in Iraq. So what now? Whoops.

It's clear that Ron is trying very hard to remain um, what's the word....relevant??? :whatever:

He's TOTALLY making a play to be the new Nader:

Ron Paul to call for voters to rebuff both Barack Obama and John McCain

Ron Paul is preparing to speak and it appears what he has to say won't be welcome news for Barack Obama (no surprise on that count) or John McCain (causing him, perhaps, some chagrin). Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul reportedly will be urging voters to reject the two major-party nominees and support alternative White House aspirants this November

Paul himself may have passed on an outside-the-lines run for the White House after his insurgent bid for the Republican nomination fell short, but the Associated Press is reporting that at a news conference Wednesday in Washington, the iconoclastic politician will be urging others to support an alternative candidate of their choice.

The AP story relates that in his prepared remarks, Paul says: “The strongest message can be sent by rejecting the two-party system. This can be accomplished by voting for one of the nonestablishment, principled candidates.”

Perennial candidate Ralph Nader, who has curried favor with Paul backers, is to join him at the morning news conference at the National Press Club. And, according to the AP, other presidential contenders Paul invited to the event include Bob Barr of the Libertarian Party and Cynthia McKinney of the Green Party.

Here's hoping they take him up on the offer, because that will make for one memorable photo op.

The McCain camp reportedly made efforts to woo Paul, but that seems to have amounted to little.

Meanwhile, all is not lost for hard-core Paul supporters who yearned for the chance to vote for him in November -- they simply have to reside in Montana. His advocates there have gotten him on the ballot as the Constitutional Party's presidential candidate (which could actually affect who wins the state's 3 electoral votes, as the Helena Independent hashes out).

wait.....so Ron Paul STILL hasn't dropped out of the race yet?? :wow:

Didn't he get the memo.........:hehe:

Paul says he turned down appeal to endorse McCain

By SUZANNE GAMBOA – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON (AP) — Republican Rep. Ron Paul, the libertarian-leaning Texas lawmaker who attracted a devoted following in the GOP primaries, said Wednesday he rejected an appeal to endorse John McCain's presidential bid.

Paul said the request came from Phil Gramm, the former McCain adviser and ex-senator whom the campaign jettisoned after he said the country was a "nation of whiners" about the economy. Gramm defeated Paul in the Republican primary for the Senate in 1984.

Speaking to reporters at a news conference, Paul said Gramm called him this week and told him, "You need to endorse McCain." The Texas congressman said he refused.

"The idea was that he would do less harm than the other candidate," Paul said.

Paul won no primaries in the Republican nomination contest but developed a strong following on the Internet.

He appeared at a news conference with three third-party candidates: independent Ralph Nader; former Georgia Democratic Rep. Cynthia McKinney, the Green Party candidate; and Chuck Baldwin, the Constitution Party candidate. Bob Barr, the Libertarian candidate, was invited but said at his own news conference later that he declined because Paul didn't endorse one candidate.

"We need today, now, 55 days before this election, bold, focused, specific leadership and that is not the amorphous kind that says any of the above or none of the above," Barr said.

Barr said he had asked Paul to join him as his running mate on the Libertarian Party ticket while his current running mate, Wayne Root would step aside. "We don't anticopate that he will," Barr said.

Earlier, Paul called the presidential elections a charade and said voters are faced with the "lesser of two evils."

The majority of Americans, about 60 percent, are unhappy with their choices in the race, Paul said. He urged the three third-party candidates to bring all their supporters together to vote against the "establishment candidates."

Paul, 73, a former doctor, ran for president as the Libertarian candidate in 1988. He is unopposed in the November race for his congressional seat.

Nader derided media focus on what he called "lipstickgate," referring to the bickering between the McCain and Barack Obama campaigns over whether a phrase used by Obama was a sexist comment against Republican vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin.

Nader, a consumer protection advocate, acknowledged differences among the third-party candidates such as government regulation of health and safety standards. But he added that he shares Paul's support for more opportunity in the political process for third-party candidates.

Yes...he could unknowingly hand the election to John McCain....

So in other words, I'm not running, but vote for the other guys.

So Paul held a press conference, to say something that he could've issued in a press release that would've been in the bottom left hand corner of page 6 of the New York Times? And he wonders why no one takes him seriously. :cwink:

:lmao:

I cannot believe the media made such a big deal out of that.

In other news... Bob Barr has apparently offered Paul a position as his running mate... I wonder if he'll take it?
