The Liev Schrieber/Sabretooth thread

but sabertooth can't be in part 2. wolverine can't see him again till x1. the only other movies he might be in are deadpool and 1st class. (or possibly a ww2 cameo in magneto, but i doubt that would happen. )

Agreed...this portrayal was MUCH better than the poor excuse in X1...which is sad because now I can't watch X1 anymore without thinking to myself "Wow...this Sabre sucks, it's not even the same character!"

^I feel the same way. I used to think Tyler Mane was perfectly adequate for what little was required of him (and he probably is, objectively, considering what the role is in X1), but when I watched X-Men after Wolverine I was like "damn...I miss Liev Schreiber".

My biggest dissapointment about x-1 was what a lame sabretooth , looks the part but that was it. I guess we are supposed to believe he evolved into more of an animal over time.

I think they are playing them off as different characters, I mean in X-Men Sabretooth is never referred to as Victor Creed and in Wolverine he's never called Sabretooth.

I don't know if that matters. He's been referred to a lot in promotional items as Sabretooth. I don't think Deadpool ever gets referred to as Wade WILSON, but I'm sure the Wilson'll be in the credits. It's just that it may not have made sense in the context for him to make up a nickname for himself.

The credits just list Schrieber as Victor Creed and Reynolds as Wade Wilson, he's only referred to as a "deadpool" at the end when he's Weaopn XI, but personally that's just how I'm thinking it, they're different characters.

As for the name, Sabretooth could just a codename Stryker gave him.

From the GA perspective, I don't think enough info was given for them to link liev's and tyler's characters together. As fans of the comics we know they are supposed to be the same.

So they are pretty much playing the same game as X1 where they give very subtle hints to please fans so they think there may be a history, but never any solid info for anyone else to think so.

Personally, I think it's better with just a hint--you pay homage to the comic fans, and leave room for some discrepancies that are bound to happen when translating from print to film. Plus, as far as I see it, these are new interpretations of the characters. I don't mind some nit-picky differences, so long as the essence of the character remains true.

would have liked to see some of his super strength. he didn't seem any stronger than any of the other characters

Didn't he hurl Wolverine into some giant object with one hand? I haven't seen the film, just some promo footage.

did you see the part where he lifted a log w/ ease? (during his first fight w/ wolverine. b4 he broke his bone claws.)

Am I the only person who thought they didn't particularly paint Victor as the villain in this one? An anti hero yeah, but there was still alot I felt they could do in terms of rivalry between him and Logan. Saying that, I liked Liev's performance.

well, he did kill a bunch of his old friends just for some adimantium. and he was pretty obsessed w/ killing people in general. especially during the wars. so he seems pretty evil to me. but the fact that you have to think about whether he's really good or bad just makes him that much more interesting imo. and really makes the movie that much better.

Agreed.

Creed was undoubtedly evil and vicious. But I dunno, I could sorta sympathize with him. I mean, he's been taking care of his little brother for all those years, he says that no matter what they should always stick together. Then his younger brother just offs and leaves him because "he's done". I got the sense that Creed was sorta quite sad about that really, not JUST angry, and it spurred him on to become even more violent.

 Ok so the guy:

kills for the sheer joy of it

"kills" Logan's girl

stays on and helps Stryker kidnap mutants, while the other members of the team quit.

Does everything he possible can to make his brother miserable

And pretty much thrives on fear and intimidation

Yeah, totally not a villain :whatever:

the part where he seemed the most sympathetic, and the part where i questioned which side he was on the most is when he said his last line to wolverine about how brothers always have to look out for each other. or something like that?

Just an issue about Creed's claws; he is able to easily tear into the metal hood of a car. But is able to easily break Wolverine's claws by stamping on them .

Now fine, he may have had leverage over the railway line (I think), but still - Creed's claws that much tougher than Wolverine's? Oh well.

Anyway, huge fan of this Creed; since he cannot appear in the Wolverine II film (due to memory issues), I really wouldn't mind a quick cameo (or not so quick :cwink:) of Creed in the Deadpool film. Really, we can't just get one view of such a brilliant portrayal (imo).

Creed vs Deadpool in a R rated Deadpool movie would be sooooooooooo ****ing awesome.

hmm, now that you mention it, I'm starting to wonder if movie wolvies "bone claws" are actually bone?

but dude, if they put him sabes in deadpool it would be awesome. i could see him getting assigned to kill his old "buddy", and than shooting him clean in the head @ the end of the battle. than thinking he was dead, leaves. than later (whether after the credits, or during the actual movie) he could he'll, but not remember anything. (like wolverine) and sinse he got more damage to his brain when he heals back he could end up coming back more mutated and animal like. like how he was in x1. that would totally connect the dots. am i right? or would that be too much like what happened to wolvie?

Well, Stryker does tell him 'they did the 'tests' and implied that Creed would not be able to survive the adamantium bonding process. What could work for me is Creed getting someone else to try to the procedure, his body rejecting the adamantium. His healing factor goes wild and he... i dunno, grows (?), ... and him regressing to a more feral state (a nod/copy of Logan losing his).

After the years leading to X1, he has regained some element of control, but still the rubbish mute (almost) henchmen that he was there...

i kinda like that explination. but it would almost require a whole saber tooth movie. and as much as i love the new version of the character, that just doesn't seems necessary to me. i still kinda like my explanation cuz it ties well into a deadpool movie, imo.

Didn't mean to say that should be in the Deadpool movie, just my own explanation as to how we went from XO:W Creed, to the X1 version... Sorry, should have said that.

Not a fan of your idea, basically the same as XO:W (but with added fur :cwink:)...
How cool would it be for Deadpool to ask him, "you still on that high 'iron' diet, or haven't you found Wolvie yet?".
