Glad that they finally announce the date for The Lone Ranger.

Although I'm not sure with the date since it's pretty crowded with Life of Pi, Judd Apatow‘s Knocked Up spinoff and Hunter Killer and not to mention that it's coming out a week after The Hobbit. But I'm pretty sure that a few of those movies will move soon.

And it releases on the same day as Man of Steel.

December is the target release date for Man of Steel but it's possible that it could change.

Ruth Wilson In-Talks For Female Lead in 'Lone Ranger'

EXCLUSIVE: Ruth Wilson is in negotiations to play the female lead in Disney's Lone Ranger, the Jerry Bruckheimer-produced film that stars Armie Hammer as the Masked Man and Johnny Depp as Tonto. Details of her role are sketchy, but it is the female lead whose name is Rebecca.

Wilson, a UK actress, had been in the mix for the role along with Jessica Chastain (The Tree of Life) and Abbie Cornish (Limitless). She has had a standout TV career across the pond, starring in the acclaimed 2006 Masterpiece Theatre miniseries Jane Eyre (she was nominated for a Golden Globe) and most recently on the BBC's Luther opposite Idris Elba.

I haven't seen her in anything but I read a number of comments saying she's great in Luther.

This is old news but since it wasn't posted before, I figure why the hell not, Tom Wilkinson is also in-talks to join the project as a railroad tycoon.

Variety report that Dwight Yoakam, Barry Pepper, James Badge Dale and Helena Bonham Carter are all in talks to join The Lone Ranger. They'll join Armie Hammer, Johnny Depp, Tom Wilkinson and Ruth Wilson in the Gore Verbinski movie from Disney. Here are some excerpts from the site, detailing the roles each of the actors are up for.

Yoakam would play Butch Cavendish, leader of the Cavendish gang and the pic's primary villain, while Pepper would play Captain J. Fuller, the leader of the seventh cavalry.

Dale, best known for starring in "The Pacific" for HBO and AMC's "Rubicon, would play Dan Reid, the Lone Ranger's older brother and leader of the Texas Rangers.

Carter, who is currently lensing Tim Burton's "Dark Shadows," at WB, is still in early discussions -- but if a deal closes, she would play the colorful madam of a local brothel.

What the hell!!! Why would a western that isn't a cross-genre like "Cowboys and Aliens" and "Wild Wild West" cost that much?!! You know, if they pull the plug permanently on this, it might be for the best.

Johnny Depp alone would've made back the money of this movie. Its kinds of silly they would invest so much in John Carter but be afraid to do this. Cowboys and Aliens tanking recently might have been a good reason why.

These movies are in development for quite awhile. For Disney not to think ahead how many big budget movies they're gonna have going on is just mismanagement. I mean John Carter to me right now looks very uninteresting, that money should've been spent to do this since Depp is automatic money for Disney.

I feel completely confused about movie budgets. How the hell can "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" cost under 100 million and look amazing, but filmmakers can't bring a "Lone Ranger" movie under 200 million. That's insane.

I'm guessing actor's salary isn't incorporated into production budget but Disney is gonna be paying Depp a hefty sum to do this. Not as much for Pirates 4 but still pretty steep.

The only explanation is Depp's salary and the stunts and setpieces were going to be ridiculously crazy.
