I'm not too fond of them myself.

You are entitled to your opinion but there are precious few bands that have ever had an effect on the rock scene as Nirvana did when they essentially ended the days of glam-rock and hair metal. If you speak to most music historians the only other bands/artist that are on the same level in regards to cultural impact would be the Beatles and Elvis.

It's hard to say Nirvana was overrated too considering Cobain died young.

There's no doubt they helped a music movement, I just hate when people say they created grunge. They're still a great band, I have all there albums, and they did make a big impact.

these death matches need some massive **** talking

I don't talk ****. I lay it down for you to pick up.

Well that is a gross overgeneralization but if you had to credit one band with grunge it would be them. No one band or artist can really say they create a specific genre. A genre is almost always in response to the current sound of the time and tends to originate in one geographic area where a lot of artist on the same wavelength are collaborating. Grunge came from the greater Washington state scene just like breaks primarily has its home here in FL. The beautiful thing we are seeing now is with access to the vast resources of the internet artist from all over the world are able to hear each other sounds and collaborate. Certain areas still have their preferences but that doesn't mean the artist in those areas have to feel stymied like in years past.

No you're just a traitor who has lost the respect of his friends on here... but at least you try to smack talk.

I'm sorry but no, grunge came way before Nirvana including Melvins, Soundgarden, Screaming Trees. But your right about not one artist can say they created a specific genre, and that's what I'm trying to say. Nirvana wouldn't be here without all those other bands, and those other bands wouldn't be here without bands before them. I'm glad you didn't say Grunge came from Seattle hahaha.
