Probably not, he will blame Oliver, after all Malcolm is crazy and he has Thea now.

As for revenge the writers need to come up with a good plan for him to explain why he doesn't just kill Oliver.

Now when I say this, I don't say it as a person who wants this particular character dead, but it does make me wonder if Malcom will target Laurel at some point as well.

Think about it.... One of Malcom's last discussions with Tommy was how he was brokenhearted over Laurel's decision to get back with Oliver and Malcom most likely knows that Tommy died trying to save Laurel.

If this guy is willing to condemn all of the Glades for the death of his wife, he's likely to condemn Laurel for her having been involved in the events that led to his son's death.

I have thought about it, but he could have killed her at anytime since he got back. If he blames her then maybe the sleeping pills she have been taking aren't really sleeping pills? Maybe he set her up to be the fall girl in Moira's acquittal. Maybe he wants to drive her to suicide and then kill Oliver?

Or maybe he blames Oliver for Tommy and Laurel breaking up, impossible to say since he is crazy.

Editing to add:

Maybe he wants to drive Laurel nuts, brainwash her and have her kill Oliver? That might appeal to a crazy bastard like Malcolm and it fits with the increased soap opera turn taken with Malcolm/Thea.

I'd prefer that there be something more to his return than petty revenge. He's too cool a villain to be reduced to that.

I could see Malcolm deducing Blood's ulterior motives and schemes so he can set them and their powered thugs against the city and Finish the job of the Glades. Basically, I can see him finding a way to hijack the scheme so Blood has to show his hand early. Blood clearly has plans for Moira, but Malcolm sidestepped him pretty easily.

I want it to be a Lazarus Pit and not some magic serum. I geeked out terribly when i say John Barrowman, i still cannot believe that the guy i've been listening to since i was 10 plays Merlyn on a superhero show. :P

I'll be completely honest, I'm not sure how I feel about him being back. I felt like they wrapped up his character pretty well at the end of last season and his story was done. I mean he's a good villain, but I was ready for Arrow to move on to a new arch nemesis.

Isn't Merlyn supposed to be his arch-nemesis though (in the comics)? It would make sense to keep him around then. Unless he brings back Tommy from dead and he takes over his fathers mantle and becomes Ollie's new arch-nemesis.

But Tommy wasn't evil, so unless there is a Lazarus pit that not only raises the dead but turns you evil and gives super powers(Tommy would need them) that wouldn't work.

Yeah you are right. I am just saying that if they would ever think of that then they will find a way for him to learn both archery and fighting.

This. It's been shown multiple times in the vsrious sources (comic, animated series, etc) that submersion in the pit can have an adverse reaction on the psyche.

And it's also heen shown, in some iterations, to give temporary boosts to strength - though that MAY just be in B:TAS. Been awhile...

Agreed. He can still be his arch nemesis, but hopefully this season Arrow will have a new main baddie instead. He shouldn't be the main villain focus

I hate John Barrowman, but I love Malcolm Merlyn. He manages to deliver quite the performance.

I just finished season 1 on Netflix.

I first thought Malcolm was really creepy but he became almost sympathetic as the series progressed. He makes a "good bad guy."

why didn't Malcolm's wife just call 9-11 while laying there injured instead of calling her busy businessman husband?

Other than that, this was a great scene. When Malcolm loses it, it reminds me of Martin Sheen's character in "The Dead Zone" when his sec. of defense hesitates to put his hand on the launch screen.

I'm almost half way through season 2 now and I see Merlyn is back and we learn he's the real father of Thea. I'm tempting to ask if he plays a prominent role in this season, but nah, guess I'll just watch.
