Add to the fact that they originally wanted Cooper to play Norman/GG in SM1 but he was unable to do so because of scheduling conflicts. And I doubt they'd take the oppotunity of finally having him available to play the part, only to pass the role onto someone else. What a waste. The timing works out to where it's like "Yes! We've got Cooper cast as Norman. Ok, now let's have him be dead and Massee is really Osborn!" Um, no. I don't buy it.
This.

I don't reallly know either actor very well, but I had the suspicion that for some reason Chris Cooper was not going to be the real Norman but someone acting as him so that the real Norman could spend most of his time underground engaged in crime and not have to deal with his family. Even his son doesn't know his real father but has had someone pose as his father all these years. Chris Cooper is looking a little old to be an active villain to be honest. Maybe Norman isn't sick after all.

Therefore, it would be the man in the shadows who was the real Norman.

I may be completely wrong but I think it would really throw people off and create an interesting story this way.

Maybe I've just read too many crazy comics with Norman.

Michael Masse will be Doc Ock...

Here, look at this:

So, if this is Masse (and I'm not convinced) as the same character as "Man in the Shadows", shown here:

Well, seems to me in the Doc Ock/Vulture Wings pic this figure in the hat is wearing a lab jacket. Similar to:

Now if you asked me a month ago I would have said that this idea was a long shot, at best, but now that we're seeing Doc Ock's arms, well...

Also, listen to the voice over during the trailer. As I've mentioned elsewhere, it almost sounds like the guy has a German accept or something...

Also, I could have sworn I remember seeing an Otto Octavius comicbook (not Molino from the movie) pic with him wearing a hat. Anyone have this and could post?

Personally I believe that Masse was originally planned to be Osborn, but it was never confirmed or announced. In the end they made a decision to go with a more known actor (Cooper) for the role. Also, since the idea of Man in the Shadows being Norman was too obvious (it's what I thought/think) and Webb wants to unfortunately be original, he decided to change it up. Now he has Norman bedridden and Harry being the Goblin (is that Harry, or is it Peter - look at the pic carefully before you shrug this one off), so he would have to have changed the Man in the Shadows to another character. A lead evil genius doctor at Oscorp seems to fit...

My god, are you reaching.

He's not Doc Ock.

Let it go.

And as far as your "lab coat" theory goes....... the jacket The Man in the Shadows is wearing is black. Your argument in invalid on that alone.

I think there is a bigger chance of him being Norman than Doc Ock.

I'd much rather have Phillip Seymour Hoffman for Ock. Massee will probably end up being someone like the Gentleman.
