The marvel fascinating character relationships thread

Charles Xavier and Eric Magnus Lensher: Both having the same goal "a world safe for mutants" but having radically different ideas on how to archive that. Their quest has had them at times best of friends, and other bitterest of enemies, and written well, they are believable as both.

I thought that Fatal Attractions showcased this rel'p the best and at its peak.Any other Charlie/Mags story since just fails in comparison.

I've always liked Cap and Bucky's brotherly relationship. Other then that, I'd have to say the Charlie X/Magneto relationship is probably my favorite.

I always wanted to write something where a villain and a hero who are not connected in any way are buddies....

Like say Shocker's best freind was Angel.....or soemone.....The one guy is a street level Thug and the the other saves the world and the universe and stuff.......I always thought that would be cool......

On a similar note I liked the releationship that Dan Slott had set up with Constrictor and Hercules...and then Nighthawk......

For those that didn't read She Hulk and The Thing, basically Constrictor was being a bad guy doing bad things, Herc came along and beat the piss out of him, Constrictor then sued hercules and won a crap load of money. Herc then had to work for Damage Control.

Constrictor was now exremely wealthy and didn'tg need to be a ciminal anymore....he was hanging out with Nighthawk (Of the Defenders) and contemplated becoming a hero (Seen now in Slott's The Initiative) anyway, Constrictor was invited to The Thing's hero poker party, Constrictor and Herc were placing very large side bets on most of thier hands and in the end Hercules won a lot of his money back from Constrictor.......Great stuff.

Slott really can be the man

I've always hated the Wolverine/Jean relationship. She chose Cyclops. Move on, you hairy little stalker.

Have to disagree with you on that one. I felt after a while that Scott/Jean were this 'stuck in a rut,' high school love couple that couldn't accept the fact that you don't always just stick with your childhood sweetheart.

Also IMO, Wolvie seemed to get over it, (but obviously still felt for her,) but at the drop of a hat again and again she kept snogging him. What's that about? Says more about Jeanie than anything.

I really feel that the whole Scott/Emma relationship is a far more interesting dynamic.

And I really find it annoying that the Wolvie/Storm relationship was never really played around with much. Now THEY would be a badass couple

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Peter Parker and Harry Osborn's relationship. Just brilliant IMO. SO full of various family, dysfunctional, abandonment, jelousy, and trust issues. The 2 most screwed up best friends you could imagine.

And what I love the most is after Harry became GG. Harry wasn't a real villain in anyway. He never had any interest in ANYTHING except for killing his best mate. Even Venom had SOME other interests... Harry was not really a criminal by any means, other than trying to kill another criminal.

Those issues done by JMD and Buscema were truly, (pardon the pun:)) spectacular

Cable/Cyclops. That was always an extremely interesting relationship to me. Older wiser son and Younger brash father. Great Stuff.

Thor/Cap.I love the respect and admiration Thor gives Cap.

Namor/Cap.

We all know Wolvie was nothing more than her man on the side. That's the classic "*******" vs. "Nice Guy" rivalry. Of course, I think Scott's the ******* now, but hey...

Considering that he made out Emma on Jean's grave. I think it's safe to say that he is the ******* now. :o

Ben Grimm and Johnny Storm: those two always got along in a funny way. I always liked how one was always bothering the other (mostly Johnny bothering Ben). But it was clear to see they were pals. Sometimes I got mad at Johnny for bothering Ben too much but I later realized he was just trying to keep Ben on his toes. Ben constantly lapsed into his "I'm sad because I'm the Thing" type of depression.

Spider-Man and Human Torch: The first issue of Amazing Spider-Man featured him trying to join the Fantastic Four. These two have always had what I thought was a great chemistry...sort of a friendly rivalry.

I always liked the hinted Wolverine/Storm over Wolverine/Jean. Kitty Pride/Spider-man made an interesting pair in Ultimates. I wouldn't even mind if it stayed that way in ULTIMATES. Though we all know what's going down in 616.

Spider-man/Wolverine was one of my favorites though. Complete battle of the rivals who still sorta respect each other there, much like Yugi/Kaiba, Goku/Vegeta, Raph/Leo, ect.

So im not the only who liked that.

I've always liked the Wolverine/Spider-man relationship. They don't really like each other all that much, but the respect is there.

Cable and Deadpool have a funny relationship, a lot of respect and an odd loyalty.
Charles and Eric is a classic, it's full of respect and both would go out of their way for the other, but there's an almost fanatical difference between the both.
Forge and Storms relationship is interesting, he holds one hell of a candle for her and it's usually without her knowledge.
This is kinda older but Wolverine and Jubilee had a nice father-daughter relationship going for them.
Hank and Emma have a mutual respect for each other that you can usually see between their witty quips to one another.

The ben reilly/peter parker relationship is one of my favourites

the whole who is real and who isn't then the resentment of one having filled in the other one's life and all that jazz.

I also like the fact that ultimately they became two separate people even though they were technically the same and began to see each others as brothers.

it's a shame this was sort of retconned when elzikiel came and parker said he had never fought with someone like himself

:o

Shadow Cat in some hudge ******** with a bunch of dudes. She neeeds it:whatever: :o

I've always liked the original 5 X-Men's relationship with each other. I'm getting caught up on Mike Carey's X-Men run right now, and there was this great scene where Scott and Rogue are talking about Rogue's formation of a new squad of X-Men in Beast's lab, and as the conversation shifts to Mystique and gets more emotional, Hank's in the background making little comments about how, if Scott were to move the conversation out into the hallway, he'd miss him but he'd cope. Iceman's also in kind of a cool place in that run, where he's finally developing past that goofy jokester demeanor and getting respect. Really, I just love the way that a lot of writers have shown the friendship between the original five, in spite of all the crap that's happened to them, and how they've evolved together. Honestly, I'd kill for a Carey-written series featuring the original five X-Men (or Emma in Jean's place, maybe) on one team again.

I've always thought the Thor/Hercules friendship was really cool.
I mean they've been rivals for centuries. They're very different in terms of their backgrounds but they've grown close enough to basically be brothers.

Also Hercules/Black Knight was such an interesting friendship to me when they were both active Avengers.
It was the average sort of guy (Dane) hanging out and partying with a literal God that he happens to work with. They had very different philosophies and personalities and it was interesting to see them interact.

Dane was kind of an anti-Cho, from the way Pak and Van Lente describe the Incredible Herc comic. Where Hercules is actually level-headed by the standards Cho sets forth, forcing him to finally be the responsible one, Dane was always kind of a mother to Herc, trying to keep him from drinking too much and going too far into excess.
