Marvel Films The Marvel Studios News and Discussion Thread

As I said in reply to Overlord, you still have to repair brand damage. Rome wasn't built in a day yall

As for Feige leading Marvel the next decade, I don't have these answers. If you replace him, who is taking over? Neither you or I have a frame of reference to make these kind of calls. That's all internal stuff.
Do you have faith in him leading a rebooted universe based on how he's managed the MCU since 2019?

He's become the face of all the things that have gone wrong in that time, as Kennedy has for Star Wars. I think replacing him is easy because the approach to making these films needs to change. Change in approach is not something he has readily embraced to any significant degree. If you want to signal to the audience (those who have left and those you covet) that the new MCU/Marvel on Film is not a rinse/repeat endeavor, then it's obvious to me what the clearest path forward is.

Feige is also the face of the franchise when it was at its peak. Big difference. I don't have a strong opinion on him leading the franchise another 10 years or not. Again, who are you replacing him with? Maybe you get someone who can inject new life into it, or you get an even worse corporate shill like DC kept hiring in the DCEU days. Stringing together good movies in the end matters more than the face of the Producer selling you the product cause when you make a 2 billion dollar franchise, people don't care about that kind of stuff. Only fans do.

I am for whoever makes good movies.

Everyone has a shelf life in Hollywood, some longer than others . Kevin had a great run, but I think it's time he stepped aside. The fact remains he lost the plot and he diminished the brand with his decisions.

I'm not interested in "good movies", I want great movies. I don't think you can find them anymore under his stewardship. It's all the same and pretty tired at this point.

Yes, Rome wasn't built in a day, but it was built from the ground up. If Feige remained it would be more like changing a few windows and doors, maybe a street name or two, but nothing truly foundational. Maybe Disney would never allow this type of change, but if that's the case this franchise will die off even further.

If you could promise me that his replacement would be like a Ryan Coogler, I would entertain that trade. But there isn't a guarantee of that. It easily could be someone like Tom Rothman or someone equally as inept who would make it worse. It's a crap shoot.

But this entire discussion is fairly moot. No one is freezing the MCU, like I said when this chain of discussion started, and Feige is unlikely to be fired or leave unless he decides to or if Doomsday is an unmitigated disaster financially.

Change is inevitable, whether we embrace it or not. Much more preferrable to the cultural inertia which is killing the creativity.

I don't know, man. At a minimum, they have to throw out the old playbook that just got stale after a while. I don't want to hear ''Well, that just happened" ever again in a film. I also think making these movies less interconnected would help.
