She certainly has an older look to her, and would look out of place with Tom. She looks like she'd be three grades above him as a Senior, could even pass for a teacher. The makeup amplifies her already mature look and adds another 5 years imo.

So does Laura and Tony...Tony looks like he's in his 20's and apparently Laura is 26

Nah, Tony looks like a young teen when he's clean-shaven:

And Laura to me looks younger than McNarmara even at 26. She just has a youthful look to her, same for Zendaya.

I don't think for one second Zendaya was cast because of her fame. She herself said live on Ellen that she had to do numerous auditions and screen tests because this is her first actual film or acting role outside of Disney.

They must've seen something in her for whatever role she was chosen for, I tend to believe it's a major love interest role only because she was one of the first people cast and she had multiple screen tests with Tom. I sincerely doubt Marvel Studios is finally getting Spidey and going to give him a brand new character, made up for the film love interest. I also doubt they will use Felicia or Liz as the main love interest either... it's gotta be MJ IMO.

I agree with this post. Making up a love interest just doesn't seem like something Marvel would do. They've never done it before, Spidey of all franchise wouldn't need it at all. But I do think it's possible that she's Liz, I mean, she has been a main love interest in the past and it follows the tradition of them going further into the books for Pete's girlfriend. But more than likely, Laura is going to be Liz... So If Zendaya is MJ -- At least most of us will have had time to warm up to the idea.

I'd be okay with Zendaya as MJ. But, I'm still not convinced she is. We need a press release soon and I hope they don't pull a Mads Mikklesen and not tell us who she's playing.

I think if they cast based on fame they would cast a provably good famous actress. Zendaya has a lot of buzz right now but hasn't proven herself in films yet.

Well, yes why wouldn't she? She's a good actress, rocks the grey hair, so white hair would work too.

I mean , it's not because she looks like "the good bff" that she actually can't play a Felicia type fo character.

I think it's more interesting to see actors play opposite roles that they're known for.

Amandla def gives me bbf vibes, but you are right that it is interesting to see characters play opposite of what they could be known for, since actors don't want to be typecast.

I like Katherine, I think she's stunning, but her show on ABC Family/Freeform is a bit jarring b/c it's not acted very well, you really have to be into the plotlines to ignore or at the very least commit yourself to the show. Then again maybe it being so cheesy is the reason why the acting is coming across a little weird.

This sounds like the likely scenario, Zendaya's buzz right now is about her fashion sense and her response to nasty comments.

Who knows maybe Laura is Betty Brant and Zendaya is Liz, and they haven't cast MJ.

A part of me doesn't care, but another part of me wants Marvel to hurry up and reveal everything.

Don't they start filming next month? I'm pretty sure Tom is busy doing other things than screen testing with potential MJs this close to filming... or that they would leave such an important role to be cast so late. But who knows.

Keaton is probably testing with Tom and the actress who'll play his daughter. I don't think they cast the daughter yet, but probably will now that they cast Keaton. I doubt they would've cast the daughter before the main character in that characters story.

Keaton is testing late with young actors cause he signed late deal. Keaton was rumoured to be villain a bit more than a month ago. Like I said I think majority of casting is done. Keaton was more outlier than standard process.

And we're going to get more casting news before 15th and during filming for smaller roles, but they usually don't cast main characters this close to production, which is why it's likely that Tony is Harry (because he'd be such an odd fit for Flash) and Zendaya is a main character. I think Flash is going to have a bigger role than previous films but not be a main character. I think the central characters will be Tony's Harry, Zendaya's character, Keaton's Adrian Toomes, Laura's Liz and RDJ's Tony Stark.

Except influences for the film include Spider-Man Loves Mary Jane and Ultimate Spider-Man, as said by Watts himself. It'd be weird to not include MJ, especially when one of the things being looked at it involves the character in a heavy capacity (really both, as Ultimate MJ is a big player).

Tony is not Flash material at all.. He's not big nor is he menacing. He's actually two inches shorter than Tom and he doesn't seem like the Jock type. He's a way better fit for Harry.

Devin Faraci's confirmation shouldn't be take as an 'actual' confirmation. But yeah, I don't see why this 'Manuel' would be a main character.
