The Master Of Magnetism":The Official Magneto/Erik Lehnsherr Thread'

It looks Magneto will fly:eek:  This is what special effects advisor Chris Palmer had to say!

From Chicago Tribune:
Published February 5, 2006
Q. What was notable about, say, "X-Men"?

A. X-Men had more rigging--flying and suspending people--than anything I've ever worked on. In one scene, Ian McKellen flies across his hideout. The underwriters were concerned. He was 100 feet off the ground.

The underwriters generally have an absolute stunt exclusion on the main actors. But we're often able to work with underwriters to lift the exclusion.

You'll hear an actor say, "I did all of my own stunts." Generally, that's not true. Jackie Chan does all his own stunts. Pierce Brosnan as James Bond did a lot of his stunts. But there are risks that insurance carriers won't allow the actors to take without precautions.

If the actor can't perform because of death or disability, cast insurance pays for delays and sometimes abandonment. That's a huge potential loss because daily production costs can run $150,000 to $500,000.

^^^Don't mention it.

I can't wait to see the flying in this film (Angel, Storm, Phoenix, Magneto - wow). Apparently the best riggers in the biz worked on it, including folks from Superman Returns.

It would be nice to see a battle in the sky, with all the flyers in this film.

Hmm. I think there's actually going to be too much flying in the movie. Has it ever actually been confirmed that we will see Phoenix fly?

Not to my knowledge... the writers would not respond to that specific question at thexverse.com. However, I am guessing that she will fly.

Question is why would Ian need to be 100 feet off the ground?

Which mutant will fly in X3?

Angel
Storm
Magneto
Dark Phoenix
and perhaps Sunfire (if he is in )

I hope we get a battle in the air

isnt it gonna be kinda weird that no one could fly before but now we have at least 4 people flying

i mean why couldnt storm fly in the first one at ellis island, she says "it doesnt work that way" but now it does?

jean makes a little more sense. her powers were blocked so much that she didnt have the power to fly, but now with them gone she can

Storm flew somewhat in X1. So did Magneto, and he also did in X2.

Yeah, no one talks about that, BUT she did fly for like a second in X1.

lol

Surveying all his followers? Command respect? Just plain showing off.

The real explanation: They didn't have the budget, and the movie kept everything 'grounded' (literally on the ground!)

The movieworld explanation: She's been practising her control in the Danger Room? Everyone was evolved by Magneto's machine? Kinberg or Penn said Storm had 'evolved'... i don't know how literally to take this...! Perhaps her ccomment in X1 meant she couldn't control it like that if she flew someone else on winds - it must be more difficult than flying herself where she has more precise control of the air around her than trying to control it around Wolverine from a distance.

Guys, don't get too excited.

I think we're seeing a lot of "Hovering" not so much "flying"

You know i kinda wonder now, if Xavier does die before Golden Gate bridge, why the helmet?

Why should either Magneto or Juggernaut even bother with a helmet if Xavier is eliminated?
