The most influential Marvel storyline ever?

Id say bruce banner getting caught in the gamma blast, because the Hulk has affected almost everyone in the 616. plus, when he comes back, boy is he going to smash...EVERYTHING

If anyone hasn't posted it yet, i'd say the storyline that introduced the new international x-men is one of the most influential. (Storm,Wolverine,Sunfire,Colossus,Banshee,Thunderbird, etc.)
This started a trend of not sticking with the traditional superhero stereotype that everyone was used to and gave writers the chance to explore other areas and showed readers that superheroes come in all different shapes, sizes, colors and don't always live in New York.

Warpath? You mean Thunderbird.

to say house of m changed nothing is incorrect.
you've got:

"no more mutants"

Like I said, I doubt that'll last.

ms. marvel being reintroduced

Wasn't she Warbird? A name change really doesn't qualify for a "re-introduction".

hawkeye being reintroduced

He just died, and his absence really didn't seem to have been felt (aside from the fan outcry), it's just another pointless death followed by an equally pointless resurrection. Nothing new to comics.

wolverine remembering everything

Logan's murky past is one of the few things that I liked about his character (along with his now-extinct samurai code of honor), and without it the character is hurt.

quicksilver's fall from grace

He's gone from villain to hero back to villain, so what? Like father like son.

Granted, I haven't read much of HoM, but this argument is moot. It is not the most influential Marvel storyline ever.

Especially when it is clearly stated in the new X-Factor series that
they will sometime in the future return all the lost mutant powers

That just leads back to my last post "Decimation." There are also other arcs coming out of Decimation that will have loads of influence
Black Bolt's declaration of war against the USA in Son of M #6
for example. I have not read all of Decimation and it technically is still going on so there could be even more reasons why it will have lots of influence.

I think that was a good enough post #200.

The death of Captain Marvel. The first time a major hero died and stayed dead

If you go that way then I would have to say that It would be The Spider biting Peter, since without that The Burglar might have not been in the same place, after robbing the Spider-man fight earlier to even kill Ben. But really, I don't think Spider-man has a realy big story that affected the way events worked out in the Marvel U. His actions rarely affected others in the Universe, and I'm going to say that the Avengers forming is the event that probably influences actions in the Marvel U the most. Thats where a lot of charecters went ot introduce themselves, it's where you come accross a lot of the Universe wide threats, and it's the basis for superteams that weren't family or genetically linked.

In summary, most influential towards creative style and content: Death of Gwen Stacy

Most influential as in changing the course of the Marvel U: Avengers Forming
The reason the death of uncle ben i feel is more influential than pete getting bitten by a spider is due to the fact that peter didn't start on his heroic crusades until the death of his uncle, that was the pivotal point in his life where he learned his famous life lesson given to him by his uncle and decided to start to use his abilities to help others.

I suppose on a universal scale, his actions have never left any great impact on history although his actions have pretty much touched the majority of marvel heroes that have come and gone and he has earned the respect of many others who do the hero stuff full time while he still has the worries of life to deal with (not saying the others didn't but back in the day it wasn't a priority for most other heroes).

Is it fair to say that he started the trend of having an alter ego that was just as important to the hero guise, i'm not quite sure...#

i know i'm changing my original angle but what the heck...
