which would you say is the best/your favourite storyline marvel have done.

In DC this is easy for me to answer as kingdom come is by far my favourite probably followed by the death and return of superman.

but in Marvel its a bit more difficult.

mentions should go out to the following for me..

Captain britain (the fury)
Union jack (2 minis)
the brubaker run on captain america.
guardian devil
spider-man clone saga(i liked ben reilly)
thor - son of asgard

Hmmm IMO,.....

Bendis and Maleev's Daredevil
Slott's Spidey/Torch:I'm With Stupid
Millar's Ultimates 1 and 2
Busiek's Marvels
Brubaker's Captain America
Stern's Avengers Under Siege and Assault on Olympus

others which get mentioned alot:

Byrne's FF
Claremont's X-Men
Simonson's Thor
Miller's DD
Infinity Gauntlet
Secret War

I'm also going to throw in Heinberg's Young Avengers.

Avengers Forever
X-Men: Days of Future's Past
Marvels

yeah avengers forever was a good one...seeing cap so despondant was so different...and two hank pym's...cool!

Yeah, I was fine with it.

I'm a bit bias, but my favorite has always been the classic Infinity Gauntlet saga.

you consider these the BEST of marvel stories?

and you say i have bad taste....

I'll admit, my knowledge of stories from all over the MU may be a little limited, but I recently bought Kraven's Last Hunt, and thought it was great. Probably one of the best I've read.

I think mine honestly has to be Age of Apocalypse. If I'm correct it's the only Marvel storyline that really made it a point to include as much non-x-men characters and teams as possible.

Best Marvel story? Simple.

Marvels.

'Nuff said.

you must not be reading civil war. i don't think i've ever seen a storyline work so hard to not include any x-men characters.

as for my picks, i'll go with marvels. that and stan lee and moebius' silver surfer: parable.

I haven't actually. I've been put off by Marvel comics for a little after House of M(Lamest excuse of a story ever) and plus it's put some more money in my pocket from saving. My friends who do read comics religiously say I wouldn't like how the story, so I haven't bothered with it.

age of apocalypse.

I like marvels but its way too pretentious. I have the same problem with kingdom come.

Also a big fan of Punisher MAX Vol 5: The slavers.

You will always have bad taste and that's pretty much the bottom line. It's science.

I'm With Stupid-A overlooked modern classic by Slott.Showcases the evolution of Johnny and Pete's friendship over the years.Slott tosses in tonnes of classic Marvel villains, nods to several characters, and a boatload of emotion.

Ultimates-I can already hear jones whining like a little girl about how Millar is a hack. All I have to say is,there hasn't been a comic like this before, save for maybe the Authority.Brilliant cinematic/widescreen storytelling,Marvel's icons shown in a familiar, yet new light,a big dose of "real world" issues and lots of great character moments.

you keep saying that, but i've yet to see any example or anything.

that mini was AMAZING, and for the reasons you already mentioned. but is it the BEST MARVEL STORYLINE? hell no. this thread is about greatness, not favoritism.

and this proves you have no idea what you're talking about. i love the ultimates. i pretty much see eye to eye with millar's portrayal of america. i would say it's one of my favorite titles, but it's far from being perfect, or the best story ever.

oh, and i like your "there's never been a title like this...except the one that came before it" remark. nice.

The King Thor saga

Avengers Forever

Alias

For me, the best Marvel stories are

Ultimates 1 and 2
Daredevil: Born Again
Inhumans (Paul Jenkins)

There are a lot of good ones I've read, but those really stand out.

I personally LOVED
Secret wars.
The infinity Gauntlet
Annihilation
Spiderman: Kraven's last hunt.

Best is subjective. These are the best answers I can give you.
