Bah humbug.
I'm no literary critic as I'm sure you are, but his stories differ, just look at the contrast between Carrie, The Body(stand by me), and Shawshank Redemption.
The books are by no means complex, but they are entertaining and the writing flows nicely. There is no pretence in it, my only gripe is that his always pulling on God's dick and making me suffer through the religious mumbo jumbo.

I'm still waiting on your response to "everyone that uses the word, whether it means portraying it in a movie, or a writer using it in a book means they condone the feeling". I mean, come on man. I guarantee you that there is at least one actor or writer or person that you are a fan of that has in some degree used that word, whether it be portray a racist or talk about racism. but i his later point was "do we need to use it", i don't think we really need to do anything, but using it in certain context certainly brings home the point that whoever is being depicted is ignorant and whatnot.

H.P Lovecraft is a wonderful author. I've been reading a lot of his work lately, I think my most favorite story so far is At the Mountains of Madness.

He is famous for writing scary stories but he has also written other things.
I also don't think all of his fictional work is comparable. I think The Stand and It are two very different stories.

I don't think the N-bomb needs to be thrown around frivolously either. However, I disagree 1000% that King is a racist. You obviously haven't read much of his work or listened to very manny interviews with him if you think that.
One of the common themes of King villians is that they are racists. Moreoever, King often highlights the isolationist, backward thinking of *some* small towns with their underlying, racist philosophy. That's how the N-bomb and other racial slurs are used in SK works. They always represent evil and/or simpleton thinking.
Let me recommend Bag of Bones, Rose Madder, and The Dark Tower series ( particularly Drawing of the Three and Wolves of the Calla ). After reading these, it's impossible not to see King's genuine disgust with racism.

Damn I haven't gotten past the first book of the Dark Towers series due to school readings, figure by the time I get to the last couple of books he'll have rewritten them!

I read the Black House and that other book related to it, such good reads.
