The Namek: Piccolo Discussion Thread

Well, the original manga was by no means corny so they better not make this movie corny or they'll have a hell of a lot of angry fans on their hands.

All right! If anyone deserved a thread most, it was this lean, mean, mountain of badassery green.

Marsters will pwn us out of our minds with his performance.

i'm not too excited about Marsters as Piccolo, but at least he has the face for him. him only being a tv star and 5'9 doesn't exactly give me confidence, but as long as they keep Piccolo as a big, green badass then Marsters should be fine.

Marsters is a great actor & was one of the best people Wong could've gotten for this movie. As for his height, that's what shoe lifts are for.

great...so he'll be wearing 1 foot tall shoe lifts? yeah, those won't be obvious. :whatever: i know camera trickery and special effects will give the illusion that Piccolo will be massive, but it's still unnerving knowing that the guy who will be playing Roshi is a whole 4 inches taller than the guy playing Piccolo.

I wonder if piccolo is going to be green. I know they say is is a humanoid alien so I really hop they don't take that out.

He doesn't have to wear one foot tall shoe lifts, he can wear shoe lifts that make him a little taller. Besides, height isn't going to affect his acting ability.

Camera trickry will be used alot in this movie

The Roshi actor just has to stoop over, problem solved.

I'd prefer for him to use shoe lifts. Btw, how tall is Chow Yun Fat?

Chow is 6'1, Chatwin is 5'11 and Marsters is 5'9.

The size discrepancy isn't dramatic, so it's nothing to worry about.

Yeah, I don't think it's too much to worry about, I just think he should wear shoe lifts to make himself a little taller.

Unless Piccolo is King Piccolo then there will be no Kame IMO. It might confuse people why there is a "younger" looking version and an older is they are one in the same.

No, it wouldn't if they know about DB/Z. If not, I think that an explanation would be included anyway. Besides, why not include Kami? He was an important character in DB afterall.

The amount of people that have said this would suggest this is a heavy dialogue movie with no time for action. Just how many times will events have to be explained to the public just because they did not watch or read DB or if they do have an understanding why certain elements have changed, this is a cop-out. Just come up with a basic story that anyone can follow with fleshed out characters and great action and it may just live to see a sequel.

Movies can't be all action, they need to have good, solid storylines.

That's not what I mean, I'm talking about spoon feeding the audience with explanations and fillers to setup the so-called "bigger picture"

No Kami? :wow:

But then there would be no dragonballs, and essentially no story. The only way I could see this happening without Kami is if the the dragonballs were created solely by Piccolo Daimao in this film-verse.

...It seems like every speculation leads further and further away from the original Dragon Ball storyline. -sigh-

Yeah, that's why no Kami is a very bad idea. Besides, that, how do we explain where King Piccolo came from if there's no Kami? People don't think about these things, they just think about how there can be only action.

That's why I am saying Piccolo will have to be Piccolo Daimao rather then Jr, or else it will be way to messy.
