The Neon Demon

Keanu and Refn together... Would have never thought but it sounds great! Personally I really loved Only God Forgives. I think it's top tier Refn. I understand the rejection of it though

Some possible info about the film.

Last month, Dazed And Confused caught up with Liv Corfixen, Refn's wife and the director of "My Life Directed By Nicolas Winding Refn," who revealed that the film is inspired by the tale of Countess Báthory, the serial killing sixteenth century countess who apparently bathed in the blood of virgins to stay young (the last detail is apocryphal, but makes for a good yarn). Moreover, the movie will apparently be like a mix of the survival story "Alive" and the dark comedy "Drop Dead Gorgeous."

Now toss in Corfixen sharing that Refn has been acquiring "Christian movies" and, well, you have something that sounds pretty fascinating.

Meanwhile, What Culture has a couple more details. They note the story is about "a group of supermodels going to extremes in their attempts to keep looking the way they do" including "voodoo and cannibalism."

I read an untitled script a while ago, and it turned out to be a rough draft of this. I immediately regret reading it.

Was it any good?

I regret spoiling the film for me.

Better than Drive on paper. Imagine that elevator scene x10. That's how the mood felt and read.

It felt like a fairy tail gone dark, I actually quite like it and this is definitely his horror film. Well, I'm an Only God Forgives fan. :oldrazz:

Sounds incredible. :woot:

I think you and I are the only OGF fans on the Hype, Sam.

Nicolas Winding Refn’s The Neon Demon Starts Production
Samuel Zimmerman March 30th 2015, 1:10 pm

With an official announcement, production is underway on Nicolas Winding Refn’s highly anticipated Los Angeles-based horror film, The Neon Demon.
One of the most highly anticipated films of the year/next year, The Neon Demon stars Elle Fanning, Jena Malone, Karl Glusman, Bella Heathcote, Abbey Lee, Desmond Harrington, Christina Hendricks and Keanu Reeves. It’s the tale, of “aspiring model Jesse, who moves to Los Angeles where her youth and vitality are devoured by a group of beauty-obsessed women who will take any means necessary to get what she has.” The film joins a growing roster of west coast-set films touching on ambition, self-image and beauty, including last year’s Starry Eyes and the newly premiered fest film, Excess Flesh. Refn’s take should of course be singular following the likes of Valhalla Rising, breakthrough Drive and the hypnotic, pitch black Only God Forgives.
About the film and its setting, Refn says, “I very much look forward to the odyssey I’ll be taking with all these wonderful actresses (and a few guys) to travel beyond The Neon Demon where all I see is the wicked dying young.”

Not only is the cinematographer is a woman, but it's also being shot in 75mm!

Who is he playing?

Well, it seems like NWR is shooting with an unfinished script, so the draft I read seems pointless? Lawd. I can't remember much of it now, but the ending was Bat**** crazy. It makes OGF seem subtle.

Edit- Just read an interview where he says Keanu character will be a surprised, so I don't want to spoil it on here, if this is still part of it. I will pm ya.

Alessandro Nivola Set To Star In Nicolas Winding Refn-Helmed ‘Neon Demon’

EXCLUSIVE: Alessandro Nivola has just signed on for a lead role in the Nicolas Winding Refn-directed Neon Demon. He will play a fashion impresario who taps Elle Fanning as his muse. The project reunites Nivola with both Fanning and Christina Hendricks, who played his daughter and wife in the Sally Potter-directed 2012 film Ginger and Rosa. Nivola was most recently seen in the JC Chandor-directed A Most Violent Year, and in the Ava DuVernay-directed Selma. He also starred opposite Bradley Cooper in The Elephant Man, which just finished a Broadway run in February. He will rejoin Cooper and play the role of Dr. Frederick Treves in the London production of the same play. He’ll jump on a plane right after he completes Neon Demon in May. Nivola is repped by CAA and Management 360

So, um, 17...

Anyways, I am totally ready for this. :yay:

I hope this isn't another Only God Forgives.

I told ya'll it was going to be bat**** cray cray.

NWR always wears the blanket around his waist. Heh.

Only God Forgives was an interesting situation when Refn was going through a mental breakdown and you through the film, you felt it.
