Mistress Kizuna said:Although Cillian could definitely play the part well, he's definitely not taking it. He's explicitly stated he's not playing anymore villains (except for Scarecrow if he appears in the BB/TDK sequel). And the fact that people are choosing him based on the fact that he played a villain in only two movies out of the thrity others he's done feels like narrow-minded typecasting to me.
Actually, the interview in which Cillian said that is a couple of years old now, and he just played Scarecrow again in TDK. Yes, I know it was a brief cameo, but still, it could happen. It doesn't neccessarily mean he wouldn't do it if asked. Maybe that's just me since I can't imagine anybody else as Carnage, but how many times did Sigourney Weaver explicitly state she would NEVER reprise her role in another Alien movie? And how many times did she reprise her role in another Alien movie?
BTW, people aren't choosing just because he played a villain in two movies. He's been in other movies such as Breakfast On Pluto and Red Eye that prove he can pull off the part.
Mistress Kizuna said:I already did mention that Cillian would play Scarecrow if asked, and the two movies that I mentioned did include Red Eye. I'm aware that the interview was rather old, and he could make an exception, but it would take alot of convincing for him, I'm sure, as Cillian emphasizes variety in his roles, and I don't think he'd want to do another comic book supervillain.
And TBH, I never was that intrigued by Carnage, and I don't exactly like seeing such a good talent like Cillian's get pigeonholed to comic-book villains.
I think he'd rather do a movie where he's the main and only villain as opposed to doing a brief cameo. Besides, being a villain seems to be his bread and butter.
And BTW, despite your feelings toward Carnage, if a talent like Cillian doesn't play the part, it's not like they can cast anyone better.
Mistress Kizuna said:There's plenty other actors who can play good villains; Cillain's not the only one. And how is being a villain his "bread and butter?" He can play good heroes as well.
You totally took what I said out of context. Yes, there are plenty of actors who can play villains, and I realize Cillian isn't the only one. I said he's the best pick for Carnage. Anybody else casted for the part wouldn't be as good, IMO.
And what I meant by my "bread & butter" comment is that the role of a villain seems to be what he does best.
