Agreed. I only got aboard THUNDERBOLTS for Jeff Parker, but he's made it a must read very quickly. And Gage has gotten even better on AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE in it's home stretch. If anything SIEGE has really helped A:TI's sales; some issues' sales went up by 20-30%.

I know. But then Marvel turns around and wonders why fans are cynical and don't trust them at their word, with anything. Reap, sow.

Just admit that you're milking, stand up and own it. Be proud.
Didn't Marvel simply claime that they were trimming it down to four to make it a quick-running be enjoyable event that doesn't drag down readers?

That's still true. Because, for people like me, who don't buy the one-shots, it was a quick 4-5 month saga, rather than the usual 8-12 month epic that you're bored of before it even ends.

That's how I at least took what they meant when they said it was going to be small. I always assumed there were going to be tie-ins.

There seems to be a collective editorial understanding that SECRET INVASION, which lasted 8-9 months, was far too long and had gotten stretched far too thin. CIVIL WAR did, too, but the sales held up better. So I think they wanted to try to keep "events" no longer than 6 months, albeit not by counting lateness. The SIEGE issues have gotten more erratic in release (the third issue took 5-6 weeks to be completed), so I do wonder if Coipel is having problems down the stretch.

That said, while I do complain I have been enjoying the tie-in's I have been reading, although only THUNDERBOLTS was the one I hopped onto very recently, and that was before SIEGE; I was following Jeff Parker and AGENTS stuff really. These one shots will be the first separate SIEGE stuff I am buying that is not a title I was already on, like A:TI, MIGHTY AVENGERS or THOR. Still, the creative teams look good, so...why not?

I just think Marvel comes off hypocritical by claiming they don't do certain things when they clearly do, or will.

Again, I really don't think their original statements addressed how they'd handle tie-ins, so I really don't think there's any hypocrisy about it.

And that's saying a lot coming from me. I generally believe Marvel creates at least one embarrassing hypocrisy every issue. :o

Pretty big week for me

Is it this week the Flash and White Lantern rings are out?

I honestly don't know myself, but someone mentioned getting a Flash ring over in the Flash thread, so maybe?
