Maybe:
BATMAN #700 (NOTE PRICE) $4.99
TOM STRONG AND THE ROBOTS OF DOOM #1 (OF 6) $3.99

I put Batman as a maybe because it sounds pretty interesting, but it's got two characters I'm not interested in at all and comes at a high price. Tom Strong is a definite, but I'll probably tradewait it since that's how I have the rest of the series...and I might be wrong but that's a reissue from last week's list, so I probably already said that anyway.

Doc Savage #3- Maybe, I don't really know anymore. That comic has been so terrible in both art and writing, I just can't see myself supporting it; even though, the backup story is great! I have a feeling I'll just flip through it, and if it looks like something happens I'll pay, if not, well... I won't and when I return home I won't be keeping issues 1 or 2 either. I can't keep buying comics that cost $4 anymore, manly cus most are so bad now. Never felt a price would drive me from my hobby.

Might buy Muppet King Arthur.

Not a bad week, with two launches I am looking forward to. I still think making debut issues as expensive as possible is a short sighted, purely greed driven formula that, in five years or less, will be part of the exhibit on why the comic book direct market finally collapsed. Sell more expensive comics to a dwindling amount of costumers....surely there's no way that could ever bite the Big Two. The sky will never, ever fall. Just keep shrugging off those double digit percentage drops per month in comic sales, keep calling them off months...

Nice, much shorter week for comics since the last month has been quite pricey. Best of all, only two DC comic are above 2.99. (Compared to more than half of Marvel's costing me a nice chunk of change. Bastards!)

DARK HORSE COMICS

PREDATORS #1 (OF 4) $2.99
SOLOMON KANE DEATHS BLACK RIDERS #4 (OF 4) $3.50 - (I was just wondering when this was coming out, as I'm doing my bi-yearly comic box assorting of all these books I keep getting.)

Well, this is one will have a section with Bruce as Batman, so there's something, if that helps.

SHIELD #2 $2.99- In this issue Teddy Roosevelt teams up with Newton and punch Celestials in the face. :awesome:

I know. How much you wanna bet it's just gonna be a lame flashback, that has no bearing on anything regarding his return? Sorry I'm whining. Like I said before, I just want Bruce back.

BOOSTER GOLD #33 $2.99---Does anyone besides Dread read this? I never knew Booster before, but Ive really enjoyed this current series. Good super hero/time traveling fun. Just missing the first 7 issues or so.

Apparently, Phaedrus45 reads it too.

Alastor said:
AVENGERS ACADEMY #1 HA $3.99----Expensive, so I may pass. I agree with Dread about pricing. This is killing my pull list.
This is a continuation of AVENGERS: THE INITIATIVE (and to a lessor degree, MIGHTY AVENGERS), written by Christos Gage (who wrote for both; A:TI mostly). It should be quite good and I am looking forward to it. That said, making the debut issue the most expensive is a losing strategy long term. I imagine it is so because sales wise, few series sell as well as they do with their debut, so if you want to make the most money in the shortest term, charging #1 issues $4 across the board is a good plan. If you actually want some of those titles to last beyond a year, though, it's a bad strategy. But I think Marvel is cynically playing this. The "big" books, like Bendis (and Brubaker) Avengers titles will do alright. The smaller books like this or YOUNG AVENGERS will be dead in 6-12 issues, but Marvel doesn't care because two books replace every one that is canceled (including one-shot's and mini's). Marvel's plan is to flood the market with as many $4 comics as possible. How can this help retailers or the direct market? None. It would be logical if Marvel knew full well the direct market was about to die, and they want to cash in without any remorse before it does; like stock brokers who "know" something is about to tank so they gyp everyone else to make some extra before the axe falls. It's pure, unadulterated, shameless greed. The only difference? We expect that of stock people. "Artists" who work for comics are supposed to look out for the medium a little. Pfft.

It looks especially bad when you see DC doing it less often than Marvel, and the REAL dregs of the comic charts -companies like Dark Horse, IDW, or Image who are each about 3% of the industry - usually hold their line at keeping most if not all of their comics at below $3.99. Image has a few at $3.50 but they seem to draw then line there, and it's barely 10% of their titles. ARCHIE, whose comics combined per month sell maybe 50,000 copies (and that includes SONIC and BETTY & VERONICA), keep all of their books at $2.50, because they haven't abandoned the newsstands. So, you have Marvel, the #1 best selling comics company that outsells DC 2 to 1 in most months (often because they release about 20-30 more comics in a given month than DC) making sure roughly half their comics are $4, as expensive as possible (beyond $5 "annuals", which Marvel on average has more of anyway). It really is hard to make Marvel sound rosey here. Instead it sounds like overkill, like someone at a desk going, "We're doing very well, but that's not good enough. Let's go too far. Let's hit the gas and tear off those seat belts, they'll only weigh us down. We're beating DC two to one when we should be beating them 800 trillion to one, and even THAT wouldn't be enough."

AVENGERS ACADEMY #1
CAPTAIN AMERICA #606
DAREDEVIL #507
INVINCIBLE IRON MAN #27
NEMESIS #2
PUNISHERMAX #8
UNCANNY X-MEN #525

Maybe:
DRACULA #1

BATMAN #700 (NOTE PRICE) $4.99
DAREDEVIL #507 $2.99
UNCANNY X-MEN #525 XSC $2.99
X-MEN HELLBOUND #2 (OF 3) XSC $3.99

Maybe
HERALDS #2 (OF 5) $2.99
YOUNG ALLIES #1 HA $3.99
BATGIRL #11 $2.99
AVENGERS ACADEMY #1 HA $3.99

I'm going back and forth on putting Batman on the Maybe list. I hate the price and the whole Batman line is on my potential chopping block, especially once Dick leaves the mantle, as I'm sure it'll happen. So I don't know yet. That's also the reason why Batgirl is in the maybe section. I'm not as attached to her book as I am to Batman and it's a potential drop at any point. As for the other three, Heralds I'm considering once I skim the first issue, so if I get that determines on whether or not I buy this one. And I figure I'll look through Young Allies but there's a 99% chance I won't get it. Don't need a new title and this title specifically doesn't call to me save for a few characters I kinda like (Gravity and Firestar). I'll likely pick up Avengers Academy but I'm still debating on whether or not I'll get it so it goes in the maybe section.

As for the other three in my to buy list, I'm most excited for Daredevil. I got caught up from bru's run through the most recent issue of Diggles and this is the first "new" issue for me. Excited.

Uncanny's continuing Second Coming, which has been great, and Hellbound is the tie-in... so it's all good.
