Anyone reading them? When I first heard of them, I thought it sounded really stupid but now that I've read them, they are actually pretty good. Especially Spiderman the Other. Peter David's a good writer! Anyone else read it?

They are actually. I thought they would suck but they are ok. The Other was the best one thus far. They only had two issues but they were not bad.

Hating on a super popular character?

Wow, you really are super cool :word:

Ok they aren't overrated, just I think wolverine could beat them both with finality, and this what if is the closest we will get to it, which suits me fine :D

As long as at the end Deadpool comes up behind Wolvie and lops off his head, killing him for good. Then I'm fine with it. :o

I've always liked What If's personally. I've read quite a few older ones, and I just like that because they don't count in continuity they can really take the story wherever without reprecussions. Like one where Cable kills the X-Men, and then Wolverine and Cable are fighting in hand to hand, and Cable says "Both of us can fight forever and neither will win, we're too evenly matched", and Wolverine says "That was for play, this is for keeps", and stabs Cable. Now in normal comics that kind of stuff can't happen because it would kill off a good main character, but thru a What If it can be explored. (BTW not saying Wolverine can beat Cable or not, was an example not to start a vs. argument).

Same with the Enemy of the State mentioned above. In the actual story the only guy they had Wolverine kill was a character no one cared about, and not important in any way honestly. In a What IF they can let him kill Spidey, Cap, whoever, and then get killed himself by a guy like Thor in the end, since it's not continuity it can't be used in vs. threads as arguments, and nothings really proven.

On the main topic tho, I'm sure they'll be good, but haven't bought and yet and don't plan to atm. I might eventually, and will probably enjoy them, just not going to atm.

They should do a Deadpool kills the Marvel Universe one ... :o

Heh, I wouldn't mind. Sad thing is it'll prob never happen, I mean they had him job to Squirrel Girl, and in a bad way (tho in all fairness Squirrel Girl's beaten even guys like Thanos apparently, and Deadpool looses waaay more than he should IMO).

The only reason he loses, in my opinion, is because he never takes anything seriously. Hell, I doubt he can take anything seriously since his brain is constantly in a state of disarray.

That's why I wonder why he's considered a good guy. I like Wade but why is he a hero on Ultimate Alliance? He'll killl anyone for the right amount of money and is crazy!

I actually enjoyed the Other What if... i read it today. They coulda made Poison look cooler though... but the ending wasnt expected and it was a nice touch. Enjoyable read.

If you gave him a suitcase full of money and said "Kill a hundred babies" he wouldn't do it.

There are times he can be extremely heroic and noble. He's an anti-hero.

Exactly, he does have some morals when it comes to who he kills or what he does.

I also happened to remember one time when Deadpool went on a rampage and they only way they could stop him was by making him lose cell cohesion. It was when Sabretooth killed Copycat after Deadpool had joined back up with Weapon X. Its quite funny because thats the only time I can remember at the moment when he was acting serious, and no one was able to stop him head to head. He almost took out Sabretooth too if my memory serves me right but by then he was becoming a puddle on the floor. The best part is his one last defient act when he shoves his arm down Sabretooth's throat and tries to suffocate him.

I didn't read the Spider-Man one, but I did get the Avengers Disassemled one. I have to say, I liked it better than the in-continuity version.
