The New Xbox Live Experience

Thus far, I don't mind the new dashboard. It is more complicated than the blades, and is much more filled with adverts, but I can live with it.

The avatars are pretty pointless thus far, but not bad enough for me to worry about.

Any chance we get to play our avatars in a home like game on xbox live? That'd be kinda cool if done right.

I cannot believe that this Avatar looks EXACTLY like  i'm not even kidding you, it's like a exact cartoon replica of me (by the way its my avatar, my gamertag is XPEREZ)

Same here with my avatar. They had my exact hair style, and even my exact nose, which games that let you do this kind of thing never seem to have. I actually own pretty much exactly all the clothes I'm wearing too, although my hat has a black band, not a white one.

In an environment like Home? Probably not.

In future games? Yes.

Currently they're in: Uno, Hardwood Hearts, Kingdom of Gelflings, 100 vs 1 (in Spring 2009)

In theory, MS is encouraging developers to use the avatars in all E rated games. They're currently forbidden from appearing in M rated games.

I just got an image of my avatar getting chainsawed in Gears 2...

I think they could have made a program like home(PS3) for the avatars and it would have given much more depth to the use of them. I enjoy the avatars but I find myself changing the look of it because it feels like it should offer more.

Also little something for you avatar users, when in the avatar editor click change my features, then wait for a minute (DO NOT PRESS ANYTHING ON THE CONTROLLER), the box will then spin and you can have a whole new set of colors for you hair styles. :woot:

Home is stupid, I think. I would never be interested in dressing up my virtual apartment and going to the movies with my virtual buddies, it all seems really silly to me. 360 and the avatars give the essence of Home, the functionality (connecting with friends, sharing movies, launching into games) without all of the junk.

Though I'm sure people who love WoW or Second Life will be all over it.

I wouldn't mind more to do on with the Avators, but not to the Extent of Home.

Just played Mass Effect via my hard drive. The texture pops are reduced to almost nil and the frame rate is a bit smoother. I've also noticed some minor new visual effects which just confused the **** outta me.

Yes.

What kind of new visual effects?

Again, they're pretty minor but just two examples: when I'm running around with the sniper rifle, my scope has a bright white glow coming from it whereas before it didn't.

When the Normandy is approaching the Citadel for the first time and its zipping by the Turian ships, you can actually see bits of the nebula swirling between them. I've seen that shot plenty of times and the nebula was just part of the background in that scene.

I'm not far in the game (just got Wrex and Garrus) but I'm keeping my eyes open. I'm just curious as to why they're showing up now...

Just found this:

So apparently I'm not the only one.

It's kinda pathetic reading comments where someone complains about having to have the disk in the 360 to play a game after they've installed it to the hard drive. That has been standard procedure for almost every PC game since 1993 or 1994. It sure as hell beats having to type in the 6th word from the 4th paragraph of page 16 of the manual

Yea, its really quite insane for one to think they wouldnt need the disk, i mean whats stopping an individual from just renting or borrowing or even stealing a game and just dl'ing to the HDD??

If they think they can beat a game over the weekend and max out the achievements if they're into that, more power to them.

It could be worse. Microsoft could have gone with what Sony dropped: the disk can only be read from the console it's first installed on

I think that the majority of the people that are angry are just mad that they have filled up their hard drive with useless stuff and now they can't download the full game.

Useless stuff like XBLA games and DLC?

I think people are mad that the price for the 120GB hd is still so ridiculous.

No, useless crap like themes, gamer pics, tv shows people only watch once in a while, etc.

150$ is pretty steep but people could get a job and buy one. :woot:

Well, if they wasted their points and disk space on adverts, that's their stupidity.

And I delete the Live Arcade games after I either beat them or get sick of them

Themes are less than 3mb on average.. gamerpics even less (1-100k), tv shows can be redownloaded if need be..

So, I don't get that argument.

Most people filled theirs with demos. Of course, a lot of people tend to forget about these and buy the full game later which is just wasted space.

And besides, they can always get the demos from Xbox Magazine if they choose.

There's really no reason to complain I'd say. If you're installing a game, finish a game if you're on a 20gb, or just don't go install crazy.

How large are the installs? I've got alot of space to spare on my HDD.

A little over 6 gigs.

Iv found that if i feel im going to be playing a game heavily, ill download it to the HDD. If i feel im going to play another game heavily, then ill delete whatever game it was that was on there and just DL the new game i plan to play. It doesnt take more than 5 min to DL a game(at least thats how its been for me). I am going to upgrade my HDD tho, theres a ton of eBay for really good prices.

Whoa...okay, I don't have that much space on my HDD.

Course, I keep some vids constantly on my HDD.

But that's a good idea in installing and moving around the installs per games your playing. I'll probably install Fallout 3, since that's the game I'm on right now.

I have 60GB with my 360 Pro, and I'm wondering if it is enough or will I be forced to change it to 120GB in the future. I will try to be careful not to install too many games on it, however.
