Ok, so I tried the trick and the freezing while looking at my friends list hasn't happened since.

This is the procedure per Penny-Arcade forums:

As best anyone can guess, it's only an issue for people who have downloaded and deleted a ton of crap but don't perform hard drive maintenance. Go to System > Memory > Hard Drive, tap Y for device options, enter the "maintenance code" (X, X, LB, RB, X, X), confirm that you want to perform maintenance, exit to the dashboard once it's done, reboot, and for 90% of people, the "bug" is gone.

I think the whole instant thing is pretty new. Just in the past few days some better movies were put up. I predict it will grow very quickly, especially now that more people will be using the service.

There's plenty of good-decent stuff up there now.

And there are plenty of great movies I already own than I didn't put on there. Like I said, I think it will grow quickly, but there's plenty to keep me occupied.

If you pick the 4.99 plan, you only get 2 hours of instant streaming per month. Meaning you can only watch one movie via streaming, basically.

Any plan above that gives you Unlimited streaming. Which means that I can watch any of the movies in my Queue any time I want and as many times as I want.

The amount of DVDs at a time is purely for the mailing side of Netflix.
