The New Xbox Live Experience

Is it worthwhile to install the games into the HD?

Depends what game. It's basically a way to make your system quieter as you play. Some games perform better, some perform worse, some don't change at all.

I have Rock Band 2, GTA4, and GOW2. I'm wondering which one will have noticeable improvement after installing into HD, and since my HD is only 60GB, I don't think I can do it for all the games.

This message board post has a pretty comprehensive list of install sizes and some notes about improvements for a bunch of games.

Edit: Oops, it's the same list as what Geo just posted, so you don't have to visit the link.

So far, I've installed Fable 2, which ran better, now I've uninstalled that and have COD4 installed, which also runs just fine.

Wow, I just came to Canada after living in the US for most of my life, and so me being new to all the different things here in Canada, I didn't know that Canada didn't have Netflix. Right before I was about to setup my account so I can watch flicks on the new XBL experience, I researched online and found out that Netflix is exclusive to the US only. :cmad: No words can explain my disappointment :(

Just get a long enough ethernet cable and you're set! :p

I've read where a bunch of Canadians are using US addresses to register and not adding anything to their ship queue.

Of course, soon after reading that, I saw someone say they screwed up and mistakenly had a disc shipped to some McDonalds in Chicago or something.

As long as it doesn't happen all the time, it can be reported lost/stolen, so even if you slip up somehow, you'll be ok (in theory)

I really wish Netflix could do whatever they need to do to stream all of their movies. Watch Instantly is so superior to renting the actual discs in every way...

A lot of the movies in my instant queue are only available till December 31st or January 1st for some reason, I guess the contract/licensing ends then.

Yeah, Ghostbusters had a red warning that it's only available until January something on mine. Lame.

Agreed. If you're into indie movies, there's a gigantic selection of them in the instant queue. Same goes for a ton of documentaries and stand-up comedy DVDs. Plus if you want to be nostalgic and watch say, Mighty Ducks 3, it's in there at your disposal. I just wish Sony would stop being immature about all of this. There were a few movies I wanted to watch and couldn't. If they agreed to have their movies able to be rented through Netflix, they should accept the consequences of Netflix expanding their technological reach.

Does anyone here play soul calibur? It's sick game trust me, the character creation is alright I reckon. I've made a sick Deadpool, he teleports and stuff just like the comics!!:woot:

I rented it a while back. The character creator was more fun than the game for me. :) I made a Luke Cage and a Black Knight, and I was working on a She-Hulk when my 360 overheated and I had to send it in. I returned Soul Calibur before I got it back. :(

I just found out about this.Explains why Ive been seeing a crazy surge in cracked 360 games. Can you do this with rented games?

Well sure, you can do it with just about any game....but you still need the disc to play it. Even tho its installed on ur HDD, you need the disc to be in the tray in order to play it.

Now im really confused... I thought the whole point was you didnt need the disc in the tray? The demo i saw was showing how silent the 360 was without the disc in the tray playing the game off the hd.

You need the disc in the drive as verification that you actually have a copy of the game. It's similar to PC games, where you need the disc in the drive to play the game.

Prior to the introduction of CDs for use in gaming, verification was done by entering word 4 of sentence 6 of paragraph 3 on page 12 of the manual, or something similar

I haven't posted in this forum in a very long time, but I just wanted to stop by and add my two cents on this whole NXE thing:

Netflix is the greatest thing ever conceived by man, I cut up my blockbuster card after tooling around with Netflix for a day.

I don't feel like making a new thread when I can just get an answer in here. So I'm getting a new tv in my living room and its far from my router. I want to move my Xbox into my living room so I can play it on HD but I don't feel like having a long wire run across my room to my on XBL. What do I need to get so that I can play wireless?

Presuming that router you have has already created the wireless network you'll be using, all you'd need for the 360 is the wireless network adapter. If you have no wireless network, you'd need to get a wireless router too, which is another $60 to $100 last time I checked (which was a couple years ago, in fairness, so they might be a lot cheaper now).

If you're switching from SD to HD, you may want to invest in an HDMI cable as well (assuming you have one of the newer 360s with an HDMI output). Microsoft sells them, but you can get far cheaper ones from Newegg or Best Buy or any tech shop.

If you don't feel like spending $100 on the xbox wireless adapter there is a way to have it do wireless by buying another wireless router for $50
