Fantastic new Bond?

I know it’s a little early to be talking about who the next James Bond will be since Daniel Craig just started what is likely to be a bull-headed yet brilliant run as 007. But who doesn’t love all-out, irresponsible speculation? Mr. Fantastic (Ioan Gruffud) recently spoke to The Daily Express and had this to say about filling Craig’s shoes:
“Maybe in seven years’ time when Daniel is done and tired of it and can retire a very rich man then maybe I could step into his shoes. I think he’s been absolutely brilliant as James Bond. I thought he was superb. He just nailed it.”
Sounds like he’s smooching Craig’s behind so that when the time comes, Daniel will put the good word in. What do you guys think about Gruffud as a possible Bond, or am I just crazy to be even talking about this one month after CASINO ROYALE came out on dvd?

Wow... rumors already :csad:
BTW, he would make a terrible bond.

yep, the guy has like ZERO charisma and a fraction of Craig's talent.

Mr. Bauer has it right. After Craig, Gruffud would seem so lightweight. And it's not like he even has charisma to ride on. He should be avoided at all costs.

Ioan Gruffudd looks a hell of a lot like James Bond, but that's about all he has going for him unfortunately.

daniel craig didn't do it for me, i like the traditional bonds, like sean connery and roger moore.
Daniels to BLONDE for BOND IMO.
I like Gruffudd, i think he's a good actor, got charisma, and would look good as Bond, but still he needs a few more years to fully mature.

Did you just step out of last year?

Ha! I think he did.

I agree completely. This guy has no charisma whatsoever. The only suitable replacement for Craig would have to be Clive Owen. Daniel Craig deserves every praise as far as I'm concerned. The man HAS talent.

Ugh on this choice. Hope it never happens.

The next bond after Daniel Craig has got to be Christian Bale. I know he is Bruce Wayne/Batman, but in a few years once he's done with Batman franchise he could fill in as the next bond. Ironic that he was offered the part at one point before deciding to do Batman. I'm thinking now he should of taking the part. Casino Royale was a great film.

He doesn´t seem to have the James Bond swagger

This is suppose to be a restart. This is not male model Bond that doesn't break a sweat, never damages his suit and has super invisible cars. This Bond is more hard core with real intense emotions, while trying to keep cool to complete his missions. Bale can portray that. I also like the idea that Bond in the new films is learning to be a 007 agent. He makes mistakes and learns from them.

I was talking about Ioan Gruffud

He will be too associated with Batman then (and he is now already). And too famous. Besides, the next Bond after Craig I think should be much younger than him.

And as for Gruffud's candidacy: a smoking does not turn an actor into Bond. gruffud has very limited acting skills, he has zero presence and charisma, as Bond he could play it as a lightweight Brosnan at best.

Yeah, Timothy Dalton did that back in the late 80's and look what happened afterwards.

Jonathan Rhys Meyers would be perfect.

Clive Owen should be Bond but I think he will be too old when Craig quits.

I definitely like the Rhys Meyers suggestions.
IMO, Clive Owen would be the perfect replacement, but somehow I doubt he'd do it. Even if he were young enough after Craig retires, I don't think he would want to be Bond. I've noticed that everybody who's played Bond didn't have the career success that Clive Owen had before stepping into the role.

As far as Ioan Gruffud, I'm still waiting for him to reach that level of acting that catches my attention. I'm sure that he can do it, but his Mister Fantastic does nothing for me.

The reason why I chose Jonathan Rhys Meyers is because he's about the same height as Daniel Craig, he's about 28 now so by the time Craig's done, he'll be in his 30s, which is a suitable age, great actor, has a killer British accent, I didn't even know he was Irish (doesn't sound like an irishman) and if you have any doubts about his ruthlessness, ambition, sophistication and Bond-type style, I sugegst you go watch the woody allen film, matchpoint, a somewhat surprisingly brilliant movie.
