I don't know if Asa Butterfield is the main contender. I do know that there are a chunk of insiders that believe so. I do think that Asa Butterfield should be one of the main contenders, if not THE main contender, since they want someone that looks like a 15 year old kid and I do think that Asa would make a great Peter Parker AND Spider-Man.

With that said, I'm hoping that Asa, Timmy and the other kids that are testing make the best out of their auditions and whoever is deemed worthy of the Spider-Man tights, should be the one getting to be Spider-Man. Very excited with the direction Marvel is going forward with this, very happy that they are sticking with their vision and hoping this new kid will eventually become my favorite Spider-Man and Peter Parker. :woot:

We know better now, don't we? Dylan didn't come from the Heaven above us. No, he came from THE SEVENTH PIT OF HELL!!! THE FALSE MESSIAH!!! THE ANTICHRIST HIMSELF!!! :oldrazz:
His fans are so caught up with the idea of him playing Spider-Man that they haven't thought about any other future roles Marvel might call him in for.

Dylan for Spidey, Dylan for Spider-Man, O'Brien for Spider-Man, darn it Marvel, cast Dylan!!

False candidate

Ya I said it before we all should be able to say we like or dislike any one and state our opinions. It sucks when some posters get all up on others and won't let others give there views and thoughts on things.

Like I have said before the dylan logan thing. I only seen dylan once in that Google movie. And didn't know who he was then. And once his name was talked about and I looked into him. For me personally he hits the marks I like to see. And that is he I would want him in the role.

But like I said he isn't the be all end all choice out there. There is plenty of others who could do role as well or better. But for me I don't honestly feel asa is the right choice fir this role. As stated by many of us on reasons we don't see Asa hitting the right areas.

What if people honestly believe that Dylan is the best choice? An opinion shouldn't bother anybody, we all have them.

I thought people believed he was the best choice a while ago, but now it seems like he's the only choice.

Heck, it's difficult to bring up other choices without 'em being shrugged off for simply not being named Dylan O'Brien.

Even the actors in your signature have been prone to that on here.

Freddie? Too creepy/would make a better Harry.
Logan? Same argument Asa is facing now.
Timothee? Too smug.

Please, don't insult Spider-Man.

I'm not.

.

And this crazy and shameful Twilight behavior from some here is the very reason that I'll keep avoiding to watch anything related to him in the future. It's just too much, and I'm very happy that Marvel and Sony realized that if they are having a 15 year old Peter Parker, he needs to look the part.

Thank GOD that he isn't getting attached to anything Marvel Cinematic Universe related anytime soon, because I just can't stand the dude anymore.

Completely understand, I've seen that type of behavior around here.

That said, I do believe O'Brien would make a better Spider-Man than Asa. But I'm not one to brush other actors off, though... I'll stick around regardless of who's chosen.

Thst is why myself I try to be neutral on things yes I like dylan in role but he isn't only one. Just like how asa is a good actor just not a total right fit for the role. But yes this place probably be better once reveal is out if way. And we then go on waiting to see actor on set of civil war and talk about his costume and trying to figure out what is going on in any scenes I'm public.

This is myself been a Spider-Man fan and saying that I've had ENOUGH of Dylan O'Brien for a lifetime.

I've been a long believer in letting the Dylan fans live and let live here. (They're certainly having fun and being enthusiastic, and you don't have to interact with them if you don't want to.) And, frankly, I've found a lot of the, "Oh my gosh you guys are delusional rabble rabble teen girls rabble rabble," on here more annoying. But lately it does seem excessive.

Although, I have been seeing a lot of the same stuff on some other sites as well the past few days so maybe it's just building on me. One of the gossip sites I frequent had a title speculation post tagged with Dylan's name for no reason at all. :whatever:

Talion, is it truly Dylan that you have had enough of... Or is it his ravenous fans?

I think it's a culmination of everything for me -- the guy as an actor and his fanbase.

Twitter is much, much worse.

This. But I disagree about twitter. On Twitter, it's isolated. Here it gets its way into every conversation. I'm afraid we'll seriously need some mod help when the casting is official, the Spider-Man thread shouldn't be about Dylan O'Brien. Get this: he is not even a CONTENDER for the role. Once the casting is done, I seriously hope it's made a rule that this actor's antics are off topic and something that doesn't belong on the Spider-Man board. At this point, I'd rather see Robert Pattison playing Tobey Maguire playing Nicholas Hammond with a skateboard playing a 14 year old Peter Parker rather than see this actor anywhere NEAR any Marvel Cinemtic Universe productions, let alone Spider-Man's.

Oh god. Twitter.
Tumblr gets a bad rep but Twitter is where the real madness occurs.

This is probably a horrible reason, but one (of many) reasons I've not wanted O'Brien for the role is that the fallout would result in me having to blackout at least two websites I frequent and unfollow countless people across various social media sites. Which is horrid since it's not really his fault at all. But he certainly attracts the devoted.

You've got a weird Twilight/Robert Pattinson thing going on, man.

:hehe: I haven't been on the Spider-Man forums that much the past months, so I missed most of the O'Brien stuff.

Yeah, the fallout is going to be brutal. :csad:

I'm expecting Heath Ledger reaction x 20, pretty much.

Trust me, you don't want to know. Basically imagine if you thought that Anne Hathaway should play every other role on Earth because you like her a lot. It's basically what was here, but with this actor instead. No other actor was worthy enough of the Spider-Man role, suddenly a MTV tv series actor was the only reasonable choice to play a 15-16 teenager Spider-Man, nevermind that said actor has been playing a high school teenager character since 2011.

It's finally ending though, so that's a relief.
