Well not necessarily. Feige did say those things, but sony has final call unfortunately

I highly doubt Sony would want to go back to the Maguire days, so no need to worry.

The quippage is crucial to Spider-Man and the MCU is a very comedic universe with such characters as Stark and Quill, so I highly doubt we'd get a for-the-most-part mute Spider-Man again.

If they think Asa is the guy, we should take their word for it on the simple note that Sony and Marvel have been great with their casting decisions.

Does his new twitter name count as evidence that he's got humour? :D

He can write jokes! Amazing!

Now if only he was able to also tell jokes in a convincing way without sounding wooden as hell :funny:

Yes that's true, and I 100% believe that spidey will be written and acted as a quippy motormouth. But, that doesn't mean the actor will pull it off.

And for the record I have no qualms against any of these actors

If Asa is casted I am going straight to Reddit to see Redditleaker's response. What do you think it'll be?

Redditleaker is saying that Asa was really looked at a while ago, as well as Nat and Holland.

Just saying what he said.

That first argument is the worst logic. I think everyone can see it. I pointed it out a lot to Airwings. If Justin Beiber got the role then he would have been the best for the role. :p It mean nothing, and should not affect your decision.

Second, Asa being a better actor is your opinion. He could play a PP as good as Dylan, but I think as DR has said, it would be good if pp still had some humor.

Who know show old Spidey will get in the MCU? Either way spidey wont outgrow the role any faster than any other heroes.
SO I don't know where the whole 6 vs 4 movies came from, but that is inaccurate.

If Marvel casts Asa then I that means he displayed ALL of the traits required to play BOTH sides. Marvel knows what they're doing better than the fans do, end of story.

I think you're logic is a bit flawed. We're not casting directors, we're people on the internet. We haven't seen auditions. If Asa Butterfield gets cast, it means that people who are very, very knowledgeable about casting and actually saw the auditions chose him. They know something we don't. Fans never cast Heath Ledger. If a fan had brought him up for Joker, it never would've been taken seriously. But when he was cast it meant that someone in the know saw something I hadn't.

And yes, if Justin Beiber got the role it would mean he was best for it. And if unicorns flew out my butt it would mean unicorns were real. But a unicorn won't fly out my butt, and Justin Beiber won't get the role, so what's your point?

I am suddenly very fond of idea of Justin Beiber playing Spider-Man, maybe in the next reboot? :drl:

You must have mistunderstood me. I was saying that that is NOT an argument showing Asa would be better for the role, any more than it could be used as an argument for Justin Beiber.
So I agree with you. Yes, IF Asa was cast, we could then assume that he is fit for the role. HOWEVER, he has not been cast, so we cannot assume that just because IF he was cast he would be a good fit, that that means he therefore is a good fit now.
SO yes, if he were cast we could trust him.
But since he hasn't been cast, that shouldn't be used as an argument for him being a good fit.
:)

If you read what Kellvin said:
We have also reached out other industry sources who have confirmed that he is indeed the front runner including one who believed that he already had bagged the role, by stating: "Marvel had liked him since day one." - Kellvin Chavez

They have reached out to other sources!

In the reboot where he dies in the first film so they can make room for miles maybe? :cwink:

Caught the news that ada is possibly the front runner. Again I talked about my concerns with asa. I agree he is a good actor. And could play peter side well.

I just don't see him fitting right for the wit and humor side of spidey. More so the way feige talked about what they want out of humorous spidey.

The only other issue I have with also is he is in good height range. It's just he is such a skinny lean petite frame guy. I still can't see him getting any bigger in arms legs chest and shoulders.

Again I don't want mcu spidey to look like a twig compared to the rest of the mcu heroes. And then if asa body type is type thst doesn't get any bigger we be stuck with a small size spidey for duration of asa time in role.

Size wise I want 616 romita and pretty much all current artists look for peter. Average looking guy. But is buff and has some muscles. I don't want twig ultimate spidey look.

If Asa books the role, I can't wait to see Daily Bugle Spidey and Redditleaker's reactions.

if they aim for teenager, he fits the role he isn´t that muscular but he could be "defined" like USM

It would be something special to see a youngster like Asa get the role, and see him and the character mature with each appearance. He could be in this role for a long time.

I think RL would accept defeat, dbs on the other hand..He's a manchild
[Asa Butterfield is announced as the new Spider-Man]

Redditleaker: Remember when I said my sources aren't always right? well yeah, I think I've been lied to.

Daily Bugle Spidey: It's all part of the plan! Marvel are trying to pull the smokescreen over our eyes, they're saving the real announcement for a few months!

Asa doesn't have the right physique?
*Ahem*
Ultimate_Spider-Man_Vol_1_6_page_03_Peter_Parker_(Earth-1610).jpg

A standalone image is worth nothing. What we need to see is that body in the same shot as another character's body because for all we know that Spidey could look more muscular than Stark.

Also important to remember Spidey has enhanced strength and a twig body would have difficulties conveying that.

That's the thing, he isn't defined, and doesn't have room to get enough muscle. He is too skinny, because of his build. He needs just a little bit more meat on him to look like those pics.
So no, he doesn't.
Think those pics with NO definition. He would look like a wimp. Unless you suggest Asa should take steroids, I don't think he has the right build.

But the right build is not high on my list for what spidey needs.

I just think you guys seem to be stretching it and saying he has the right build just so he works better for the role. :p

i think that´s the point of him looking like that, he won´t gain muscle mass from night to day, Peter as a nerd doesn´t should be that bulky or have that much muscle mass , he has super strenght regardless of his build...
