I'm willing to admit it is looking more and more that the Paleyfest thing was because Dylan didn't get/was not considered due to age and had a NDA and/or did not want to talk about it. And if he was not considered due to age, that would be a shame. I think Dylan can still pull off a high school student, just make him a junior or senior instead of a sophomore.
Dylan O'Brien was cast to play a high school Stiles in Teen Wolf FOUR YEARS ago. He was 19 year old back then. Why Marvel from all the studios would fall for the same mistake that Sony fell twice casting an adult to play a high schooler, when even freaking Teen Wolf got it right?
If it makes you less sad, Marvel is following the type of casting that Teen Wolf did with O'Brien back in 2011, they are casting a 18-20 year old actor to play a 15 year old character. Just like it happened with Dylan O'Brien... FOUR years ago.
Asa, to me, does not have the look. His blue eyes (I know that's superficial, but more often than not, he has brown eyes in the comics) and he looks really young (more like thirteen) and while I think Spidey should be thin, he looks to skinny, like a boy as oppose to a teenager. He may be a very good actor, but I don't know if he can pull off the charismatic wiseguy in the league of a Robert Downey Jr. or Chris Pratt. Hopefully, if he is cast, I am proven wrong.
It's funny that you say that, since the way that Peter is drawn in your avatar looks JUST like Asa to me. Asa Butterfield looks very Steve Ditko's Spider-Man, while Timothée Chalamet looks very Mark Bagley's Spider-Man. I love both approaches, and I hope that the best actor for the role gets the part.
