The Nine

Scott Wolf looks bad,his boyish good looks are fading.
I'm a little worried about his health.

Pretty interesting, completely not what I was expecting. Don't see how it can last more than a season, but still pretty interesting.

Going to give it a couple of episodes. But it just doesn't work. What maybe would have made a better show would be starting the season off a couple of days before the bank robbery and then have the next couple of seasons be the bank robbery itself (it lasted 59 hours right, have it unfold like 24- cops on the outside, robbers, and the hostages.... all interesting angles to play up) and then the after effects- but, as is I felt out of the loop throughout the whole episode and not in a good way.

This makes the characters really difficult to relate to. The first half was great, the second half felt like a guessing game "wait, huh? what happened in there?" Just overall needed a better structure. Lost works because the past doesn't have that big of an effect, just adds a character trait, while having an intriguing main story unfolding during the present. This series definitely needs to work on it's structure, because some scenes almost came off completely random because of an event that is at this point unknown by the audience. These scenes may have had more of an impact if the audience has known what happened becaus they 'experienced' (see the structure idea above) the events with them.

Just, it was ok- but it needs SERIOUS work on the structure and development. It can't be constant "inside references" that nobody but the writers and creators understand.

Why did ABC have to get rid of 'Invasion'?!!!

Hoping that it improves in the next couple of episodes and doesn't feel like a constant "inside references" week after week.

That's actually what I liked about the show, the not knowing exactly what's happened/happening. Kind of feels like Memento, we're getting the ending first and I feel throughout the season we'll be getting the how we got to this point.

As said, I'm willing to give it a couple of more episodes. But, they should chose the flashbacks very carefully so that the audience will actually understand some of the things that took place. I'm not saying show the whole bank robbery. But, if a certain scene is important- show it!!!

The one area that really dragged down this episode was the relationship between the doctor and his girlfriend. At least show a moment of what happened- "it was a moment, that's all"- since that seemed to be an important part that was the most hazy and in the dark, show that moment!!! The rest of the episode was easy to understand, even though we didn't see it we got a general idea- but this relationship took a dramatical nosedive at least show part of that moment.

Kind of like how Lost handles it's flashbacks. Best example that I can give is the season 1 episode: Moth. And how everything came together into a great whole.

Next episode the flashback should either be about the confrontation between the cop on the inside and the cop on the outside or about how the guy was a hero. Since that seems to be the focus of next episode.

Don't know if I'm the only one who understands what I just typed. The format of the show is ok, but you have to be able to pull it off right by keeping the audience in the dark but not in the pitch dark. So, I seriously think they should focus more on what flashbacks they decide to show so that the audience doesn't feel left out. Thus, it is integral to show certain parts or a whole flashback sequence that would help the audience better fill in the blanks.

Yeah, that is something that should have been shown and I do feel was the weakest part of the episode. When he and Maricruz (sorry don't know her character's name yet) started making out, it was totally out of left field and I thought I missed something.

Yeah, to me that's what stuck out like a sore thumb. Because this was a radical change. They should have at least shown one scene that establishes part of what happened. Because, throughout those scenes I was lost and felt left out in the dark. While, the rest of the characters, it could be inferred what happened to them in there. Such as the 'hero', that was easy to get and understand. As well as what happened to the cop.

So, that's just one thing they need to fix- picking certain flashback scenes that are integral to following the episode.

I like it but I gonna need to see a few more episodes before I'm completely hooked. And like someone mentioned before, I don't see it going for more than one season. I think the familiar faces should've stayed on the shows they were previously on. The guy from the Unit, the chick from 24 (even though I found her character to be annoying at times), and the chick from Prison Break (I guess we know why Sucre doesn't see her in the chapel).

^Exactly.

Egan Foote, with an E, not at the beginning of Egan, but at the end of the Foote! This guy is a pisser.

Guys, I'm sad to say I just don't know about this one. I want to support Tim Daly and his work, but I found it to be a sloppy pilot that doesn't have enough to keep me vexing for it....i'm suffering from "instant gradification syndrome" perhaps.

Maybe if I could watch 2-3 episodes at a time, like on dvd. But then again, I just haven't figured out if this show even interests me in the slightest:(

I mean, WHY do i care what happened to these people? I think overall, TV's just asking me to care about WAY too many people:) I can't do it...and I'll watch it one more time, but I can't guarantee I'll care about these people either.

I'll watch next week simply because it's on after lost but I have no idea where this show is going.

Last week I quit watching midway through the show, and last night I couldn't even make it through the "recap" at the beginning.

So long, overproduced serial-shows!

I'm really liking the show, I think it's well produced and very interesting to see what happened in the bank and the aftereffects.

why did the felicia character talk to the dude in jail at the end of the pilot?

This show is going to get cancelled soon. I don't have any idea where this show is going.

honestly, it isn't moving fast enough. they're trying to already stretch it into an 8-year show when it doesn't even have feet yet?!

it was "TOO good of an idea"...i love serials but i couldn't bite into this one. the critics were wrong this time

I passed on this one. I just wasn't in the mood to have another show with a secret that was never going to be revealed, always stringing the audience along.

^ If anything, The Nine makes great shows like '24' and 'Lost' LESS interesting b/c it exposes the gimmicky secrets that make good shows GOOD!

It's pretty cool. But what I don't like is Wolfe's character and that latina chick already having sex after just 52 hours.

I almost gave up on the show last week. It was towards the end where a possible connection between Eva & the bank robbers was brought up that kept me watching.
