Life After People: The Series

Yea the Astrodome thing was pretty cool. It's amazing that the presence of one animal can in turn bring in so many others. Pretty cool stuff. I can't wait for the rest of this series. I have been excited for it for quite some time

Me too! I loved the original special. According to the episode guide, there is going to be 10 episodes. :yay:

why do ppl still threaten us about stuff not bio-degrading? according to this show, NOTHING is left.

I think over time, it is true. They were talking about the only things that would be left are human bones.

I don't have cable, so online viewing is my only option.

Their website is the one that has the episode guide with pictures and extended scnes and stuff.

Damn it, at our current rate of population growth, we're gonna have to start deboning our babies. Will Mother Nature never be done tormenting us?!

It really is amazing just how quickly mother nature regains control of our cities and stuff.

I know, I saw the special a while back. The CG shots of greenery overtaking all our cities were cool. Can you imagine how eerie it would be when our giant bridges start breaking down due to lack of maintenance? It's all quiet desolation and then "SNAP, CRASH, SPLOOSH!" and then quiet desolation again.

I remember the original special talking about how there will be a span of time that will be the 'great collapse'. It's just really sad to think about all of the innovation being turned into a pile of rubble and erased from existence.

It doesn't bother me so much, actually. I mean, without people to appreciate it, what do any of humanity's innovations really amount to anyway? Encroachments onto the habitats of whatever species take over and that's about it. Our innovations effectively die with us.

I really liked the original special but I don't understand the concept of making it into a weekly series.

a.) interesting concept with lots to explore
b.) ratings were stellar for the original special

I really liked the original special but I don't understand the concept of making it into a weekly series.

I believe each week they are going to be concentrating on a particular aspect of it. (Like this week was 'The Bodies Left Behind'.)

i really don't know how they're going to come with new ideas every week for this.

That's actually, my only real qualm with this show. I know it's not about "how we disappear but what happens to Earth afterwards" but the way they treat it is like we all evaporated or were abducted by aliens or something.

I'd rather it just operate under the premise that everyone on Eath died at the same moment. If only for the insane amount of fertilizer we would produce, esPecially in dense cities like NY and Tokyo, turning them into forests much more quickly. I loved the "vertical jungles" in the sPecial.

glad I won't be here when all of this happens. looks like a scary place to live.

I like that they don't explain what happened to cause a mass extinction. It's just about what happens after the fact.

(The Vertical Jungles in the original special were amazing!)

doesn't everyone just randomly disappear in the original special?

doesn't everyone just randomly disappear in the original special?

I'm honestly not sure...it seems to me like no one was left. Everyone had already died.

I think its rather beautiful and poetic that all our buildings, technology etc will all crumble away. Be back the way it was meant to be.

THIS WEEK'S EPISODE...

Title: Outbreak

In this episode, savage forces seize control from man. Thousands of domesticated animals break loose, feats of engineering will self-destruct, pets will escape, and a deadly virus will spread once again.

Invasive vines will blanket the South, while the Sears Tower and Big Ben struggle to remain standing. In an outbreak of nature what will endure? It is a journey that will take us to the future of Chicago, Atlanta and London--as well as haunting locations already devoid of man. This isn't the story of how we might vanish--it's the story of what happens to the world we leave behind.

I had no idea that Big Ben leaned eight inches...

The original special was cool and I watched the first show and that was kinda cool but after you've seen that there isn't much more to see.

You can only watch buildings crumble and trees grow so many times before it starts to get old fast. Whoever thought it would be a good ideal to make a series out of the special is a idiot IMO.
