I think a good litmus test for Kilowog would be the suit/practical FX/CGI overlay that was done for Davey Jones in the second & third Pirates films. I'm not a fan of the films, but the combination of FX there was brilliant. He looked insanely organic.

Oh, and add me to the Michael Clark Duncan list. He'd be perfect.

I think the studio is using CGI right now for a lot of things. In this Variety piece, it indicates that they are facilitating the development of the film and storyline using CGI modeling. It is a way of rapidly prototyping concepts and even playing out scenes before they are even acted out. They could even determine if it would be cheaper to go with CGI or just to act it out with actors. Things have come a long ways.
