I never said it wasnt
Given Kilowog has more humanoid proportions than Hulk or Thing, I´d go more the Hellboy route with him, combining prosthetics (with some animatronic movements) and a suit.
CGI or CGI mocap is going to be cheaper and look better than an actor with makeup. Case in point, CGI was used for the Silver Surfer, and an actor with makeup was used for the close in shots where actual acting was required. The CGI looked better.
Metal and artificial things have always looked better in CGI than organic stuff.
Michael Clark Duncan should already be signed. I mean he is doing DirectTV commercials and Disney show cameo's. Physically you can't find a better match, voice wise is perfect and he is use to heavy make up. Anyone silly enough to bring up the "he's already been in comic book movies!!11!1" shouldn't even bother because he will be under make up.
He should be the list - this is an occasion where there is no benefit in being creative.
So what was the excuse for using CGI insted of a Body builder for the HULK?

Mr. Hyde
(from "The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen)
The Mr. Hyde character in "The League of Extrordinary Gentlemen" was played at some times by a stuntman with prosthetics or by CGI. Did you notice any difference there?

Hes much bigger than people. Kilowag has dimensions that could be done by a human. And whenever prosthetic can be used, I say do it, because its definitely better.
