Comedy The Office (US)

Been rewatching The Office from start to finish. Just began season 5. The first season is always rough to get through, much like Parks & Rec before they found their voice.
I've been doing the same thing. I actually feel like season 8 is much rougher to get through than season 1, and not just because it's four times as long. Season 1 was where they were trying to find their footing but season 8 was where they turned Andy into a Michael knockoff to fill the Steve Carell void and nearly every supporting character into caricatures, along with trying to make Andy and Erin into the next Jim and Pam relationship that ultimately went nowhere. The main source of entertainment for me is, believe it or not, Robert California. But even then I didn't really enjoy and embrace the absurdity of the character until seeing him again in reruns where Carell's departure wasn't fresh on my mind like it was watching the show back in 2011/2012. That being said, they did right the ship and bring it back down to earth a bit in the final season, but I stand by season 8 being the worst out of the whole show.

My wife and I binge watch this show every year, and I agree that season 8 is worse than season 1. Season 1 has actually been growing on me the last few years. But yeah, Robert California is the only entertaining thing about season 8.

I bought the DVD set months ago thinking they would never put it on Blu-Ray. Now they do. :whatever:

At some point I might buy the Blu-Ray set but not for $112, maybe half that.

The Office isn’t shot in a way that I think a Blu-ray upgrade is going to make much of a difference than the DVD set IMO.

I don't think so either but it would certainly be on fewer discs. Have you seen the DVD set? It's nearly 40 discs. :wow:

What's really weird is, I don't think this comes with Digital HD/Digital copies. For 100+ bucks that seems like a pretty big rip

Honestly, the Date Mike episode might be right up there with Phyllis’s Wedding and Scott’s Tots in terms of sheer cringe.

I’m partial to Michael Klump, honestly.

This is why I own a copy of every series or movie I want to rewatch occasionally. Streaming services pulling stuff for no good reason or being transferred to another service I do not subscribe to and in this case, sticking it behind a paywall.

Comedy Central has it on so often that it feels like they do a full series marathon every month.
Yeah, they run through nine seasons at a shockingly quick pace.

I watched the US office in about a week (a work week!). I was only planning to watch the first episode to see what the differences were with the UK office, and then I got hooked.

I watched seasons 1-9 in 9 days because I was dealing with a bad ankle sprain. The thing is I may have also watched the UK Office in that 9 days but I'm not sure since that was 2 1/2 years ago. I have the complete series on DVD but I want to upgrade to Blu Ray soon.

Jeez it's not surprising or a new line of thinking but the number of "they're forcing me/people to pirate it" since if it left Netflix I see on Reddit is so annoying

Edit: The Complete Series is $30 on iTunes and Vudu/Movies Anywhere

The show is on Comedy Central almost everyday. I don’t even miss it on Netflix.

Same

I have my tv on Comedy Central 90% of the time so I’m like always watching it

But I’ve seen that under Peacock they are releasing never before seen bonus extras and deleted scenes in a way to gain subscribers. Sucks for those people that recently bought the series on Blu-Ray thinking they got everything :whatever:
