Comedy The Office (US)

I've seen every episode of The Office MULTIPLE times. But upon my latest viewing of Garage Sale, I noticed a couple things I haven't noticed before.

First, Michael's beloved plasma TV that Jan throws a Dundee at in 'Dinner Party', is clearly for sale at Michael and Holly's table.

And Second, The infamous clown picture that was supposedly a permanent fixture in Jim and Pam's house, is for sale at their table.

I don't know how I missed these in earlier viewings... especially the tv... it's quite obvious.

Now I'm wondering what other little things I've missed.

Michael talking Kevin through a game of hangman in order to tell him Stanley’s having an affair is low key one of my favorite moments of the series.

Random thought...I think Michael would have hit it off nicely with Jim’s brothers. All three are goofy and I think Michael is the type to appreciate the pranks that Jim’s brothers pull off.

I’m remembering how many guest directors this show managed to land over the years (Harold Ramis, Jason Reitman, JJ Abrams, etc.) and after watching Waiting For Guffman the other day, I’m kind of surprised they never got Christopher Guest to drop by.

Anyone read this book? I highly recommend it for any Office fans.
I actually just finished reading this. It was a great retrospective book for the series and there was a whole lot in it that I didn't know about. What it really made me want more than anything is a reunion show like what HBO Max did for Friends and Fresh Prince. Maybe for the show's 20th anniversary in 2025.

Peacock Premium for all then. :o

I'm impressed that they're streaming the first five seasons of The Office free of charge right now. Didn't it used to be only seasons 1 & 2, maybe 3 as well? Either way, the free Peacock plan is probably going to go the same way that the free Hulu plan did in the near future.

Free Hulu was so awesome back then. Watch the newest season for free then subscribe for the whole series. Such a simple model... Then Disney took the reigns away from NBC and bought Fox and made Disney+.

Yeah, although IIRC there's at least a lot more stuff on it now.

I love watching the extended super fan cut episodes. They have the first 3 seasons and there’s so much funny stuff that I wish they left on there

I honestly don’t remember anything that character did other than “be Dakota Johnson,” so not sure she was the best candidate for a spin-off…

Then again, there’s no baggage in being able to do almost anything with a blank slate character, whereas Dwight and that corner of the show’s universe in The Farm just felt… off.

I don't even remember her.

They must have been pretty desperate to even consider her character for a spin off

Her part in The Office was one of those appearances that's more noticeable on a later rewatch since she's gotten way more famous since then. Same thing with Randall Park as "Asian Jim".

I rewatched The Office earlier this year... and still don't remember her character.

Rewatching Cafe Disco, it really seems like they’re teasing Andy/Kelly. I don’t know if Erin would’ve gotten the chance to shine without her thing with Andy, but I feel like that would’ve had potential.

David Koechner, aka Todd Packer, is hosting an Office trivia night at one of my local comedy clubs in October. My wife and I, along with a few friends were able nab tickets and get entered to compete. Her and I both are "Super Fans" and are pretty confident we can win. Can't wait!

Okay… who was donating to this, exactly? Any spinoff would go through Universal, not him, so…?

I went from shock looking at that too fast and mistakenly thinking that Leslie David Baker had died to utter confusion once I read it. It's very weird. On the other hand, for what it's worth, out of all of the supporting characters on The Office who I'd watch a spinoff show centered around, Stanley is only second on my list after Creed.

I love that Stanley and Phyllis are presumably playing husband and wife in the new Honey Nut Cheerios commercial.

That seems like a mistake. Unless it is a completely new, unrelated office workplace in which case it could just maybe work.

Why not just do that Dwight spin-off they were planning at one point? There's at least a framework already in place for that.

I remember when that idea was first thrown out there in the last season or so. They even did a backdoor pilot as one of the episodes. At the time, I didn't think it was a good idea because by then the show had gotten so stale after Carell left. If they were to do a spinoff based on Dwight and Angela's life on the farm now I think it would go over better now that enough time has passed and the show is maybe even more popular now than it was then. Certainly better than just a reboot set in the office with nothing new to bring to the table.
