Truly, one of the best fantasy films of the 1980's was John Borman's EXCALIBUR, based on one of the seminal tales of Western culture, the legends of King Arthur and his Knights of the round table. I have often thought since I started to watch GAME OF THRONES that EXCALIBUR is very much the GOT of it's time, in so much that it took the fantasy genre and dirtied it up quite a bit.
