An interesting "long way around" mashup, if you will... Flash Gordon of course had great influence on the Star Wars films, famous for it's score that was composed by John Williams. The success of Star Wars led to the plethora of Sci Fi and Fantasy films of the 1980's, one of which was Flash Gordon. In pop culture there have been some great themes over the years that once you hear them you get transported in some way. Either you immediately remember the film or TV property they are a part of or your own mind makes it's own little mini story based on what the music summons from your psyche. One of the greatest contributors of all time to the great themes of entertainment is Lalo Schifrin. Here are some wonderful tributes using the themes he composed.


When one thinks of the start of the late Bruce Lee's amazing tour de force quintessential Martial Arts film ENTER THE DRAGON, the music of the film's opening immediately comes to mind. A long time back, True Believers, the crossing over of comic book superheroes was not even close to a common thing in mainstream entertainment. Even the current Mighty Marvel Heroes had to take baby steps at first. The early Marvel attempts at animated entertainment were crude at best, thought they did use actual Jack Kirby art so that's something. What is undeniable is that Stan Lee and the people involved in making these early shows certainly knew how to make a catchy tune. Here we have a mash up of the old and the new that will take Hypesters of a certain age back. How far we've come, eh?

Some of the fights endings took me by surprise but I loved the Guts from Beserk vs Nightmare from Soul Caliber, Iron Man vs Lex Luthor and Deathstroke vs Deadpool fights.
