The Official Black Widow Casting Threads

Don´t get me wrong guys, but, why is that everytime you guys see someone portraiting a comic book character in the big screen and like it, imediatly think that she/he should or could be cast as another character?

There are more actress out there...and way better ones too.

Actually it's more based on her showings in Chainsaw and Rules of Attraction and actually showing that there's probably more to her than just the girl from Seventh Heaven, so my choice is based on how her career has continued post-TV...not necessarily just because she's in Blade 3...:p

I wouldn't mind her as BW. I'm not sure if BW has an accent, but Biel isn't that good an actress to be doing accent work. I could be wrong. She not a bad actress, and she looks quite believable doing action. i thought she was quite convincing in Blade, although i still stand by my point that as a normal human, she kicked to much vampire @ss way to easily. It wasn't believable. All i can say is that either these were some weak @ss Vampires or Biel has buffy level skills and stregnth. At any rate biel is a pretty decent action herion.

Biel wouldn't be bad, but she doesn't scream "perfect" to me for the role. Although noone really does. It needs to be someone who the filmmakers can depend apon to bring in an audience so that it will be profitable. Here are some suggestions.

Natalie Portman:

Pros - Could easily pass for Russian, probably good enough actress to do accents well. Although established in the sci-fi world, it's for a character that's signifigantly different than a Russian spy/soldier type.

Cons - Doesn't really have the body that would best complement a leather bodysuit, could be type of actress who takes herself too seriously (ya never know)

Sarah Michelle Gellar:

Pro's - Has proven to be a successful transitioner from TV success to movie success. Probably most dependable actress in her age group when it comes to hand-to-hand combat action. Looks great in tight leather. The genre of a Black Widow movie's fans pretty much already like her.

Con's - Depsite success in all sorts of movies in between Buffy and now, both she and the filmmakers still might be concerned about typecasting. There might be this feeling that people are going to see Buffy talking Russian, instead of THE Black Widow.

SMG would be good, but i'd take Biel over her. Portman doesn't take herself overly serious. i think she'd do it, but she doesn't scream tough to me, and she looks like a stiff breeze would blow her over.

Guys, you need a redhead for the Widow, maybe Dina Meyer or Angie Everhart.

i'd agree there mjb....I think Jennifer garner wouldve been a good choice if she wasn't elektra..ditto for rebeccs...but biel would work IMO

I'll watch anything with Biel in it

Hmm, this is a hard choice,

not using hair dye,

or

casting a barely c-lister as the lead in a "Blockbuster" which will therefor be reduced to a low budget B movie with low budget b movie success.

tough choice.

The star of this movie will come from the a-list or the "hot/up and coming" area of the B-list. Not the chick who's best known for showing her teets in Starship Troopers or for banging Howard Stern.

Hmmm...even with training, I still don't think that Gellar and Portman could take Biel down in a fight:)

How about there shouldn't even be a Black Widow movie?

I'd like an up and coming for Black Widow.

So would I. Give an up and coming actress a chance. They need to start somewhere.

When I watched X-Men 2 and saw Famke Janssen with her auburn hair and black leather suit, I couldn't help thinking she looked like the Black Widow (and remember her role as a spy in Goldeneye). So what about Famke?

Well casting Famke in the role is a lot more appropriate than Jessica Biel. She just doesn't have the kind of chops needed for Black Widow. She's a pretty boring, dull character in Blade 3 as well.

Asia Argento should have been Elektra

and Natasha Henstridge should be Black Widow.

I think biel would do a fair job and she is gorgeous however someone else would be better IMO. I want to save her for just the right part. Something to elevate her.

Ok, I've got a new suggestion. Jaime Pressly. Why you ask? She hasn't been in any memorable sci-fi/action roles.

Because after growing up in North Carolina, Jaime spent almost 11 years training in gymnastics.

That's the BW's main super-ability. She's an olympic class ballerina/gymnast. It would be good to have someone who brings expertise to the role. Although she's been in some stinker movies, she does have talent at acting. Even in some of her roles what many would call forgettable comedies (Not Another Teen Movie etc) she brought a disctinct charm to her character that enriched the scene.

and they are indeed fine pics. but I think Natasha Henstridge should be Black Widow.

Too old looking. She's sort of hit the wall somewhat after she had her kid. She isn't nearly as hot on "She-spies" as she was in "Species". I know she's only 30 (atleast it SAY'S that on her IMDB page, which you can't always trust)

But she doesn't look it. She just looked way more rugged and thick on She-Spies (which she couldn't sustain as an hour-long syndicated show, which all suck, but most last longer).

I want Rebecca Romijn to be Black Widow, I see Jessica Biel more as Wonder Woman then Black Widwow. Another actress I could see as Black Widow is Catherine Zeta Jones.
