The Official Blake Lively & Carol Ferris Thread - Part 1

Lively was smoking. But I can't really judge her performance because Carol was such a weak character. She was basically a living, breathing plot device.

I liked Blake Lively and this and she is seriously gorgeous

I thought she was more interesting than your average female love interest character. And is it safe to say she's a lot smarter than Lois Lane?

Think if they go with the sequel she'll be able to manage her face heel turn as Star Sapphire?

unlike katie holmes, I could buy lively as someone in her late 20's.

she showed some range, but her part was horribly written.

Weakest part of the film to me. Every scene with her was awkward. that makes me sad

She was stiff and the character was flat, but I didn't hate her the way I hated Lois in Superman Returns. That character actively made me angry.

I thought she was fine
I loved the way she realized it was Hal right away . I seen you naked ..... A nice little joke at how Superman keeps his identity hidden with just glasses

Stiff and flat does not describe anything about this woman.

I'm really not sure what film some of you were watching that you didn't feel she gave a genuine and good performance.

Out of all the recent DC films, Blake was probably the most enjoyable romantic lead. Better than Katie, better than Kate. At one point in the film I was thinking the ring shoudlve chose Carol instead of Hal.
:woot:

I thought she did a good job in the movie. The part was just not well-written...can't blame her for that.

It wasn't written any worse than any other female supporting role has been.

That whole scene was GOLD.

Pretty much poking fun at the notion that you can disguise your identity from someone who's known you their entire life simply by wearing a mask and/or changing your voice.

:woot:

She wasn't anything amazing, but I still think Carol in GL was a lot better than female leads in other movies.

Agreed. That balcony scene had my theater's audience laughing at the hardest and her reaction to that realization was priceless!

I really liked the scene when Carol realized Green Lantern was Hal. Before she said anything I kept thinking "She has to know who he is. It's plain as day!" Sure enough when she said "Hal?!?!" I thought it was great. I didn't pay attention to Blake Lively's work before but she looked stunning as a brunette. I'm looking forward to seeing her in the sequels if there are any.

I wouldn't guarantee any sequels but she looked damn fine as a brunette. She did a good job with what she had to work with. It's a shame we only saw an on-the-surface sort of relationship between her and Hal.

She was much better than I thought she would be. I didn't think she was bad at all.

When will she play Star Sapphire and wear that costume? :woot:

Guard, you're a smart guy but I can't tell your tastes in general.

Really liked Lively in this. She held her own. I believed her through and through. I don't think she embarrassed herself with any of the line readings. Her being able to see that it was Hal from the get go is one of the best moments in a comic book movie...EVER.

And frankly, it's remarkable how gorgeous she looks as a brunette. And that's saying something because she's gorgeous as a blonde.
