Zemo was definitely a bastard in Thunderbolts. He was an ends-justify-the-means sort of anti-hero.

Matt Fraction and Brendan McCarthy: Doctor America

154dc48.jpg

When I first saw the solicitation for Marvel's upcoming Captain America: Who Won't Wield the Shield? one-shot, I thought it was just another Deadpool parody comic. But while Deadpool does make an appearance -- or the Golden Age version, anyway -- he's not the only character making fun of Captain America. The book will feature a new Forbush Man story written by Jason Aaron, a Doctor Strange/Captain America mash-up by Matt Fraction and the previously mentioned Golden Age Deadpool tale by Stuart Moore. Marvel.com talked to all three writers about their stories.
"Dr. Stephen Rogers, transformed by the Super-Satan formula into the pentagram-bespangled sentinel of the arcane, Doctor America," Fraction said. "On behalf of the Undergovernment he goes mano eeeee mano with Richard Milhous Manson, aka the sinister Red Dick, and his genocidal assistant Bebe Rebeyonder to save the soul of the swinging, sinister, '60s."

Fraction's tale, appropriately, will be drawn by Brendan McCarthy, as you can see to the right. OK, now I wish I'd pre-ordered this .

I have some questions.

1. Exactly how did Steve Rogers come back from the dead?

2. With that recent preview, is the Captain America ongoing still going to star Bucky? Will he still carry on as Captain America? Will Steve be given a solo book or will they share this one?

1. I didn't read the mini, but from my understanding the bullet he was shot with actually put his soul (or essence or whatever you want to call it) it a constant state of time tripping where he was reliving certain moments in his life over and over. The others found a way to bring him out of that.

2. Yeah, the Cap ongoing is still starring Bucky for now and he's continuing with his version of Cap. Right now where Steve is going hasn't been fully revealed, but it looks like he'll be part of the Secret Avengers and may work for SHIELD in some capacity. I don't think anything has been officially said on the subject, but it looks like this ongoing will continue starring primarily Bucky, though I'm sure Steve will show up regularly in some capacity

1. Long story short, the gun Sharon actually shot Steve with wasn't an ordinary gun - it was actually some of Doom's tech and rather than killing him, it froze him in time. Red Skull tried to bring him back so he could steal his body but Sharon damaged the machine, so Steve ended up being forced to relive his past again. The machine was rebuilt eventually thanks to Doom and Zola and Steve was returned to the present, but had to battle the Skull for control of his body. Skull was forced back into his robot body and was then killed by Sharon. Sin's face was badly scarred and she ended up looking just like her father.

...that wasn't really as short as I intended it to be.

2. Bucky is still the current Captain America so he'll be staying on as the main character of the ongoing with Steve as a secondary character. If Steve is getting his own series, it hasn't been announced yet and it doesn't seem too likely, but he's almost definitely going to be in Secret Avengers.

Thanks for answering the questions. Im glad Bucky hasnt been pushed aside. I like him in the role

Wohoo i got 70 Euro tax refund ya! So here i am asking should i get Captain America Reborn along with the first two Brubaker Omnibuses or should i just except that Reborn serie will be collected in the 3rd Omnibus of Brubaker's Captain America serie? Thoughts?

I was thinking of waiting to see if there would be a Reborn Omnibus, but at the moment I had to get the The Man With No Face and Reborn HCs while I still could. Honestly, I couldn't wait to read them. The only book I need for now is Road to Reborn HC, and if these do get collected as an omnibus, well, I'll just have a handfull of hopefully out of print hardcover books to sell if/when the time comes.

I finally got Reborn (I decided to wait for the hardcover rather than get the individual issues), and I liked it. It wasn't a massive epic to end all epics, but it fit with Brubaker's tone.

My one complaint is actually Hitch's art. It sort of ruins the constant feel of the series a bit. Had it been Epting or Luke Ross doing the art, I think the story would've felt more like another piece to the greater puzzle.

And what the hell is up with Hitch and drawing the A on Cap's head? First he uses this weird military style A, then switches back to normal and then BACK to the military one. For God's sake, in the last few panels of issue 4 the A actually changes within the context of the scene. No consistency!

Hitch likes to redesign Cap's costume, apparently. I'm surprised he didn't just go ahead and use the Ultimate costume.

Steve Rogers has returned! In fact he was in such a hurry that he actually came back before the story was done! But, whatever, I'm sure no one even noticed. Anyway, Bucky Barnes is the current Captain America, and has come into his own in the role in a story Captain America editor Tom Brevoort calls "the greatest single marriage of words and pictures in the history of the English language. Suck it, rest of literature!" But will Bucky go back to being the Winter Soldier? Are there others in line? Who cares?! All we're interested in is who WON'T be holding that Vibranium laced hunk of junk and what major new Marvel event comic it leads into. Who won't wield the shield? It could be not YOU!!! (Featuring a special appearance by everybody's favorite underused character, Deadpool! At last, Deadpool! In a comic!) Rated T …$3.99

You really gonna whine about this in two different threads?

Not gonna whine about it Anubis. I just didn't know which was the most appropriate thread. Secret Avengers gets a lot more traffic at the moment and Steve'll be a main feature of the title. But then he is/was Captain America.

Can't say the sight of Steve with a gun fills me with joy. He barely even used a gun in the war, so I always figured he just didn't really like them. But I trust Brubaker knows what he's doing, so we'll see.

His costume, at least, looks way better on that cover than on the Secret Avengers promo pic, though. Still not really appropriate for Steve, in my opinion, but better. Glad this artist decided to keep the scalemail, or at least some kind of approximation.
