If Hal is indeed The Green Lantern. who would you cast as Carol Ferris?
I think Carol (Star Saphire), is needed for the GL even if Hal is not Green Lantern IMO.

Emilia Clarke for Carol Ferris!

Also, to do Star Sapphire justice, you have to use Hal Jordan. Yet another reason why Hal is the only way to go for the lead of the GL movie. He has the relationships with Sinestro and Star Sapphire, two of the biggest GL villains ever. Using John as the main character squanders the potential of both Star Sapphire and Sinestro.

Star Saphire killed John's wife though in the comics so there is a connection there too to be exploited if they so choose.

Yeah but my point is the relationship between Hal and Star is far stronger than Star and John's relationship.

IMO Star should be portrayed more as an antihero, less of a full on villain. IMO Carol should be introduced in the first movie as Hal's love interest, and then she could become the Star Sapphire in the third film, in time to help the other Lanterns against Nekron

To make it work they need a very solid cast. Mary Elizabeth Winstead is a terrific actress who could fit the role.

Mila Kunis or Olivia Wilde for Carol

Olivia Wilde I went with her because not only can she act but at the same time action wise she can bring it...watch Tron Legacy if you don't know what I'm talking about

Six DC Universe Characters Teased in ‘Man of Steel’
Russ Fischer said:
6. Carol Ferris
This last character is interesting, because we’ve just seen her portrayed on screen in Green Lantern, with Blake Lively in the role.

One of the last scenes in Man of Steel features a conversation between Superman and a military officer. That officer is accompanied by a lower-ranking woman, Major Carrie Farris, played by Christina Wren. Ferris’s comment that Superman is “kind of hot,” combined with her name, is being read as a revision of the Carol Ferris character from Green Lantern. Why would that be a big deal? Well, Farris has an alter-ego, Star Sapphire, who has been both villain and hero.

Now, since Warner Bros. and DC are in control of both the original Carol Ferris character and the Green Lantern film, as well as Man of Steel, there’s no reason that MoS couldn’t have given the character a full reboot. It’s not like there’s a big rights issue in the way. So this could be more of a sly nod than a pointer to the future. Seems like a pretty obvious nod to make if that’s all the character is meant to be, however.

It'll be tricky to cast Carol til we know who is playing Hal but I wouldn't mind seeing someone out of left field. Constance Wu maybe?

Obviously whoever plays her can't just be a love interest. They need to be a superhero eventually too

Just get a really really smokin' hot doll for Carol, I need a Live Action Star Sapphire in my life. :D :D

I don't care who just so long as she's age-appropriate. I know Hollywood is allergic to female leads over the age of 25, but one of the most jarring parts of the first movie was them presenting Blake Lively as Ryan Reynolds' boss and childhood friend. There is not enough suspension of belief in the world.

MEW is my N.1 (another actor/actress in expect to work for Marvel first) but I really like Patton. Not sure how big a role she would have in a movie centered on Hal and John, though.

I think it's fair to say Hal would go back to Earth at some point. The thing is, if this movie would partially be about John's origin, then if we get a human Green Lantern in JL1 or more likely JL2, it obviously has to be Hal since John wouldn't have become a Lantern yet. Therefore it's fair to assume that we might briefly see some of Hal's supporting cast, which of course would be revisited in Green Lantern Corps. In short, Carol can totally get some scenes here.

She is breathtaking. By the time the movie comes out she would be around 45, but if they do go with an older Hal, makes total sense for Carol to be older too, after all they are supposed to be the same age. If Lois Lane can be played by an actress in her 40s, they can do that with any other DC love interest. In the milf department, you can't ask for more than Paula Patton.

Yeah. If they cast someone like Aaron Eckhart or Justin Theroux, a 45-year-old Carol would be fine. Hell, Paula could pass for a woman in her early 30s so the age thing doesn't even matter.

Emilia Clarke as Carol Ferris if they go with a younger one but an older Carol I would go with Michelle Monaghan
