The Official Dark Avengers Thread

Recently when reading a bunch of marvel comics I have seen ads with some guy with a red tie and its says "I want to be good" and it looks kinda interesting! Anyone know anything about this?

I really hope this is some new thing and not an X event. Also the guy does look like magneto but i can't see mags slaughtering a cop like it looks like that guy did. Mags just doesn't seem like the blood and guts type.

Looks almost like it could be an alternate time line where the X-Men are treated more like District X, and Magneto is more akin to a militant inner city civil rights leader.

Didn't Magneto just go back to his old-school terrorist tactics in Uncanny X-Men #500?

Y'know...in the recent issue of Cable, the baby had red hair, green eyes, and the image of a Phoenix in her eyes.

I told you so.

Pfft. I said it was Jean while everyone else was still going on about Bishop being a 'tard. :oldrazz:
still I mean it looks like purple coat slaughtered the guy, I don't the idea of mags getting his hands dirty.
...We are talking about Magneto, right? Guy who spent the last forty-plus years repeating some variation of "If you won't get your hands dirty, Charles, then I will"?

Yeah I know that and yes it's THAT Magneto. But still I feel like Magneto would kill someone with a bit more.... what's the word? eloquence?

Seems to me that Magneto is the kind of villain who doesn't actually revel in mass destruction and genocide (he just does it as a necessity), so killing with "eloquence" wouldn't exactly fit his MO.

Actually, I think it would more so. He doesn't like it when he does what he feels needs to be done, so he does it in ways that are the least messy and up close to distance himself from it.

Doesn't mean she's Jean. It just means she's a red-headed green-eyed girl who's hosting the Phoenix.

hmmmm......kind of look's like cyclops's red glasses but I'm no marvel expert

I was hoping for something novel. Ugh. :(

Hahaha. Oh, here's something...

...I'm sure that, with everything going on right now in the X-titles, Mags would definitely become a bit more brutal with how he deals with humans. Imagine you're Magneto, a mutant who, not only lived through the concentration camps, but is a part of a race once again being threatened and oppressed. Now, suddenly, you're an endangered species. This is Mags we're talking about here, militant mutant terrorist Mags.

Why wouldn't he have the bloody badge of a human law enforcer in his hand, while smiling?

Now look at Cyke, who re-started up X-Force and let Wolverine off his leash. Even Cyclops is starting to seem a bit more militant or outright cold about his approach, which is different from Xavier who came across as more of a pacifist.

Is there a Mutant Religion yet? They should have their own religion.

Well, it could be argued that no matter what changes have happened within the mutant community, Magneto has never really been a sadistic man. Violent, yes. Brutal, sure. But usually with a heavy heart about the methods he feels he has to use. Brutally murdering a cop in such a way that blood spatters all over him and then smiling about it doesn't really seem Magnetoish to me.

Then again, with Cyclops becoming an ends-justify-the-means mutant version of Nick Fury, who knows what the villains'll have to become in order to keep up?

It'd be regretful, non-reveling eloquence.

it could be scotts other brother not alex, i forgot his name and the girl can be polaris.....just saying

Scott's other brother (Gabe) is busy playing king to the Shi'ar Empire, and Polaris is his prisoner.

Well, now, we don't really know the circumstances behind the bloody badge at all. It could just be symbolism or it could be an actual moment in the comic. Just like how we don't really know what Scott nor Rogue/Jean/whoever would have guns. They surely couldn't be against Magneto.

He probably still has the gun he used during the Torn arc of Astonishing X-Men.

Say, where did Scott get that gun from? It wasn't big or wacky enough to be one of Cable's or Bishop's. Or was the gun supposed to be some psychic manifestation of his attempt to remove the illusions? It's been a while since I read that arc.

He didn't have a gun, all of it was in their heads or some strange s**t.
