Well if the last leaked e-mail was true, then by 2020 the rights of spiderman is fully return to marvel.

@harryoscop: sadly there still many news outlet reported it until today. I don't know what to say.

Is that what the leaked e-mail said? I remember them discussing that the plan was to get Spider-Man in IW but I don't remember hearing that Marvel plans on getting Spider-Man rights back in full.

I do remember hearing something like this before the official news of the Sony/Marvel deal was made. It was on another forum from a guy who claims to have a lot of inside sources. Who knows how true that is, but anyway he said that Sony would produce/finance/distribute the 2017 and 2019 Spiderman films, but after that point the rights would fully revert to Marvel.

Oh yeah I think that was on reddit. IDK how true that is but we'll see. I believe the Spider-Man movie timeline, based on that e-mail, is supposed to go like this:

Spider-Man - 2017
Infinity War Part 1 - 2018
Spider-Man 2 - 2019
Infinity War Part 2 - 2019

After that is pretty much a mystery at this point unless Marvel really does get the rights back in full. As of now though I think we only know up until IW2 and even that isn't 100%.

Well Infinity War Part 1 comes out on May 4th, 2018. Infinity War Part 2 comes out on May 3rd, 2019. There is some space in between and there will be a number of Marvel films coming out then.

Based on the leaked e-mail, the second solo Spider-Man movie would be coming out in between. Now of course I'm not saying that's definitely going to happen and you could be right: it might just come out AFTER IW2.

So with IW P1, Black Panther and Captain Marvel there is just no room between Infinity Wars for Spiderman 2, unless you outright move Black Panther to Phase 4. That's not correct. What is correct is that (Per The Wrap) Disney/Marvel have been trying to purchase the rights back/cut a deal for years, and they now hope this current deal will position them to buy the rights (or Sony Pictures outright) in the near future.
